Interesting article saying Tarrant is off limits then mentioning a deal involving Peake in exchange for a first round pick.

That would probably make it Tarrant + Peake for pick 16 or 17 if we deal with St Kilda. Not a good deal if you ask me. Tarrant is the real deal here, personally I would rather keep him for another year then get nothing than to undersell him and Peake for one pick.

Take what we can for Peake but it would be good if we can use him as a sweetener for a much bigger deal for their first pick and a player. Interesting that Dodd was mentioned as well. Here comes the meat market.

If Peake and Tarrant is going to net us a late first round selection, Tarrant on his own would be worth 3 first round selections...

In all seriousness if we can get a first rounder for Tarrant it'll be worth the short term pain, we won't get anything for him next season.

...

Yes because the first part (Tarrant off limits) is the official word from the club and the likely scenario i.e. Tarrant goes nowhere, this year at least. The second part (trade involving Tarrant & Peake) is utter News LTD. tosh.

Hawthorn, St Kilda and Carlton, three clubs in search of a key defender during next month's player-exchange period, said they had not factored in the possibility of recruiting Tarrant for next season.

Tarrant's high price tag, plus his age -- he turns 29 this week -- were reasons given by the Hawks, the Saints and the Blues for their lack of interest in the former Collingwood forward, who was an All-Australian in 2003.

So more Hackdorn rubbish then.

Its a shame about the Tarrant situation...heres hoping he can stay on for another 3 seasons now. He may want to...you never know.

Im pretty sure Harvey doesnt want Taz going anywhere and is not interested at all in trading him unless ofcourse an offer too good to refuse is put on table but if its nnothing awesome hes not even going to bother talking about it.

Where as Rosich is a bit more speculative and says the club is willing to look into offers.

Im sure Rosich an co will be trying to say how we prob should take any reasonable offers but Harvey seems determined to keep him.
As no matter what the board members say once the season starts if he hasnt shown improvement in the wins area the eagles media here will be all over the club and trying to get Harvey sacked.
So only wins will keep the public off Harveys back.

Taz plus another player for about a pick 15+ is slightly in other teams favour as there getting a great defender plus a quality depth/possible 22 player.
Where as we will be getting a chance to pick up a young guy that could be anything.
Taz by himself for a 1st round pick is about even slightly in our favour but not much.

The club must talk to taz and find out his plans.
If theres a chance he will stay here longer we are best to hang onto him coz with his body i would think hes got atleast 3-4 yrs left.
If he is pretty keen on leaving next year as hes said since beginning of this year then we have to make the trade now.

I don't like this TBH, reminds me of Schwabby sticking his nose into footy department. Run the ****ing club's business and leave footy things to Bond and Co. Doesn't he have a Royal Show bags to prepare?

To use 5 Picks in the ND. We still need to lose 4 people from our list list either through trades or cutting. Murphy (Payout) Peake (Trade) Drum (Trade) and Foster (De-list) are my four.

So....
Drum + Peake for a 2nd rounder
Keep Tarrant

National Draft
4 Morabito
20 Black
Pick for Trade Colyer
36 Luff
54 Houghton
68 PASS

Rookies
8 Majak Daw
24 Trent Dennis-Lane
40 Farren Priest
56 Luke Pratt (Pre-listed 3rd year)

Looks good to me

Why would you pass on 68 and then pick a full list of rookies?

This is the last "pure draft" before GC / WS comes in. We should be using all our national draft picks, even if the last one is on a speccie KP

It all depends on how many spots are available on the list. As Ibbos points out we need to cut four from the list, if we want to use pick 68, who do u recommend cutting?

Really think we should trade Taz. He's done the right thing, he has basically told the club he is going back to Victoria next year, and has given us leverage as he is still contracted this year. Should make a trade for him, remembering even if we get a 2nd rounder for him next year, this could be pick 40 something!!

Harvey would not want to lose Taz as he would be hard to replace in the back line. Grover is almost gone and is really the third defender now. We need Taz and McPharlin down there with Broughton, Hayden and Duffield then either Grover, Johnson or Dodd depending on match-ups. One of the young guns can also run off a back flank which starts to give us a bit of flexibility. The real lynchpin though is Taz shutting down the best forward. Without him, we will leak a lot of goals. Should Taz go it would be hard for Harvey to improve our win/loss ratio, even though the team may be improving and going in the right direction. He would then be under a lot of pressure to retain his job.

This is all balanced against Taz's own plans, of course. If we can get 2 or 3 years from him, trading is not necessary. If he really does want to go at the end of next year, trading him this year if a great deal comes up is the best option for the club, though not necessarily for Harve's career.

Can't bring myself to cut anyone else. Maybe this is why Dudd hasn't been offered a new contract yet?

Wonder if we are going to use our PSD pick.
