Are there any promising key position players in the draft? We can't just rely on Merrett and Drummond.

Alex Rance.

We won't take him though.

Don't forget Mills, Tyler, Garner...

i think Schmidt played at CHB for the twos at times when Tyler was out

he's shot up a bit already in his time with the Lions by all acounts and it will be interesting to see whether he keeps growing :thumbsu:

surely we'd be looking for the best midfielder available at our pick - if a few clubs directly above us in the draft focus on key position players then it's possible that we could grab a Palmer, Ebert, Masten or Rioli at pick 8 (i won't pretend to know much about them but they seem widely regarded as the top mids after Crotchin)

by the way, what's with all the golf talk?

you completely lost me back nine or ten posts ago...i wasn't sure if you'd all gone daft or whether you'd just dropped a shot or two of vodka before posting...and what's with all the underlining? anyone would think the BigFooty software was buggy

;) :thumbsu:

Yeah Smouha goes alright, but I haven't seen enough of him to make a a point, he is an athlete, but I've been told his skills aren't great. Will be gone before pick 41.

How confident are you about this being accurate? I know he blitzed DC but he was hardly mentioned prior to it I don't think.

Also I've heard there's a promosing 18 y/o ruck playing in the QAFL. Can't remember his name, but from what I remember a mate telling me, I think he said he didn't make the state squad, plays for Redlands and wears #33 (not sure if the last two statements are correct). Is a very raw prospect, 200cm odd with a good leap, but doesn't do much around the ground. Does anyone know the name of this bloke?

With a slice of luck, and a favourable draw, as well as some competent work by the clubhouse, along with Lethal's iron fist and a good angle of approach, I'm confident we'll play the perfect round.

I am going by logic, Tim Houlihan was hardly mentioned before D last season. Recorded well in the DC (fastest time in 3k trial) and was drafted a pick 43 to WCE.

True, but the year before Tom Rischbeith blitzed DC and he got rookied. Also last year Hogan was impressive at DC too and he went at #57.

While Smouha may got before pick #41 I'd be somewhat surprised if he did.

well, if you have been drinking vodka, i hope you all at least had the sense to designate a driver - you don't want to get Pinged for DUI :D

what about scott sellwood?? i was all for joel coming to brisbane, what about scott?
I was supprting Joel to Brisbane when he was in u16's, then his stocks rose and I was hoping we'd take him at 4, but it turns out I think Leuenberger would offer more to our team.

Same applies for Scott, I have seen him play u16's and early in the year he looked like we could grab with our second pick (peopel disagreed) he has since risen in popularity and will be gone before our second pick, he isn't worth our first pick either.

If we didnt trade for Trapper, we could have used pick 14 on Scotty.

thats very true.. thanks for pointing that out. damn u travis. i hope he pays off for us

Mills is showing signs of improvement but Tyler needs to improve. Wasn't Garner out all year? Aside from that, I don't know anything about him.

Tyler was drafted at the end of last year, and has had injury problems all year. Give the kid a chance.
