Except for a pre-season injury I think DT hype will get Lecras into every DT in the comp.
Im a bit sceptical personally - ive never really seen him play much (dont think i saw many eagles games? particularly in second half of the year in that role?). I might have to go digging through some videos/youtube to see what he looks like.

Good call though - lot of hype already.

I'm not sold on Lecras yet. I know he is desperate to get some time in the midfield and the Eagles seem to want to play him there but i think he offers huge value in the forward pocket. West Coast really don't have many natural small forwards with players like Embley, Rosa rotating through the half forward flanks so personally i think it would be in the best interests of the club to leave him in the forward pocket with maybe some very occasional runs in the midfield. Also, IMO Wirrpanda retiring and West Coast's midfield depth doesn't help his chances of playing in the midfield often. He looks a fantastic player, but i'm not too sure he has great upside if he continues to play in the forward pocket...

Definite case of 'watch role in pre season' for me.

If Eagles take Jetta ill probably pick Lecras, maybe as my rd or 4th forward.

I'd have thought that'd have the opposite effect. Jetta is a classy wingman, not a forward pocket. He'd just add to the midfield rotation making it less likely for LeCras to get time in there. If we pick someone like Coyler, then I think LeCras would be getting more time in the middle.

Nah Jetta will be used more as a small forward if he goes to WCE, he is a wingamn but can play forward pocket and with his slight frame is likely to start as a small forward for an AFL side, will have stints on the wing but.

What is everyones thoughts on Pavlich??

Pavlich is always a solid contributor. Be careful on pricing at the start of the season. If he starts off at 400k+ id hold off for a while, because hes likely to drop. Hell average you 90+ on a constant basis.

Another classic "look out for pre-season form and role".

We on the freo board are quietly confident he will spend more time in the forward line this year than he did in 2009. And whether he plays in the midfield or the forward line he is going to give you at least an average of 90. Always going to be a solid option.

You would think he should play more forward, due to the fact that Palmer should be back in the side, but will see the midfield at some stage during matches.

I don't know, I was under the impression he lost weight and trained specifically for midfield during the pre-season? That was why I ignored him last year.

I hope he goes back to the forward line, purely from a fan's perspective.

Im not too sure about hes training regime, Freo fans may be able to add some input. I prefer Pav in the forward line aswell. Hes in his comfort zone(did ok in the midfield) and is much more damaging.

Just had a few thoughts about rioli:

If you take out the game he was injured early in the first quarter (round 11, scored 16) and his return game from injury (limited TOG/role, round 15, scored 34) then he actually averaged 82.24 for the season.

Also, he averaged 87 over the first ten rounds, showing his ability to score at keeper (maybe even premium?) level over a semi-sustained period of time.

Then I got thinking about S.Burgoyne, and I at first thought that this could only mean less attention for rioli. However, will it reduce his midfield time a little? A player of his calibre and potential I think not.

With that in mind, priced at an average of 76.2 (354k in the fanplanner) I think he could be a very popular option, and one definately worth considering.

No doubt some upside there Lakey.

That said, part of that average was due to the Hawks having so many injuries and hence Rioli having to be rotated through the midfield. With the recruitment of SBurger plus a fitter midfield he may be stuck up forward more often. Will possibly still rotate through but would be looking for a lead from the club first.

Really looking forward to having Pav back as a forward. It may only be marginally better, but we look better when he's there. Only took Harvey a season to workout what the rest of us knew pre-season... heh.

No games for Freo at the MCG this year sucks. Pav dominates at the G.

Last 11 games
119
143
104
104
91
134
144
92
118
16 (Injured)
97

Avg ~ 114 (Taking out the 16)

But still a good prospect if he goes back forward.

Why would the AFL want to play Port Adelaide at the G in 2010?

Completely agree, but why are we talking about Port Adelaide now?

Cant even get a good crowd at their home games.
That depends how you define 'good'. Is Port Adelaide v interstate team with 25,000 worse than 2 Victorian teams both at their home ground getting 27,000? pure maths would say yes, but the Victorians have 2 team supporter bases there.

The G is the home of AFL. Every team deserves a game or two there at least every year.

That is the bigger problem IMHO. The G shouldn't be the home. The GF should be at the home ground of the team that earns the home final. E.g. Port Adelaide V Brisbane at the G? If the AFL really wanted to expand in Sydney, why not have a GF at the olympic stadium? holds 80,000 more than enough.

A 25k crowd is not good, regardless of the crowds that the lower supported Victorian teams are getting.

80k isn't nearly enough - the 'G holds 20% more people than that, and there's nowhere near enough tickets available for club members as it is. I do like the idea though, a granny at Kardinia Park would be a hoot :D.

80k at the Olympic stadium would actually be more footy fans. Since the MCC takes a large chunk of the 100k at the MCG. Kardinia park was sold off, more $$$ in Skilled Stadium :) Cats home finals are at the MCG.

over 25% of the ground is filled with MCC members.

Not a great option. ANZ also has stadium members who would be allocated seating and MCC members have reciprocal rights to ANZ as well.
