Hi guys, I along with a group of mates are having an "Even Stevens" league where we all start with the same team at the start of the season.

To be honest, who cares who is in your initial squad. If everyone starts with the same players. Pick whoever you want, maybe just stay away from injured players.

I would also NOT start with any rookies on the field. Just have a more mid-ranged team, this will really see who does the best.

Thoughts on my team please? I'm never happy with it >_<

DEF: Fisher, Cornes, Bock, McPhee, Adcock, Houlihan, Raines (Hill, Petrenk)

MID: Swan, Tuck, Gibbs, Tuck, Hasleby, L.Anthony (Robinson, Beams)

RUCK: Cox, McIntosh (Spencer, Pyke)

FWD: Pav, Franklin, Gian, D.Thomas, Higgins, Skippy, T.Walker (M.Brown, Hogan)

Im a bit iffy on Dale Thomas and McPhee...and having Hill on the bench

:)
This is one of the better teams i like it!:thumbsu: 12 keepers well done put hill on the field though, maybe in the midfield

backs: c cornes, goddard, lockyer, gilbee, adcock, raines, petrenko, mcnamara

mids: gablett, swan, selwood, gibbs, robinson, rich, beames, strauss

rucks: cox, sandilands, pike, spencer

forwards: delidio, didak, b harvey, chapman, higgins, hentschel, zeibell, thorp, brown

any thoughts/advice on this side?
cheers

You have got to be joking?
Who cares about ABC, not every team needs one in there team, they will drop down in price.
I totally agree with you on starting a rookie instead of Pearce/Haselby but I think they need to upgrade there forwards eg. Brennan who wont play the first few rounds.

Yes i do know they arent needed, but did you read what the team was created for? Every person in the league starts with the same team and the winner is decided by the trades thoughout, so by getting more keepers it makes it less interesting. I was just suggesting it would be more fun for them to have less keepers. Soo downgrading one and upgrading a keeper to a keeper. Plus everyone isgoing to pick cox for capt, so it adds another variation for the first few rounds there aswell

This is pretty close to my final side, any criticism appreciated :thumbsu:
$24,000 Remaining on salaray cap.
Players in Italics are my expected keepers barring injury.

BACKS: Goddard, Cornes, Bock, Lockyer, Raines, Grimes, Hill (Petrenko, Suban)

CENTRES: Ablett, Kornes, Gibbs, Knights, T. Tuck, Rich (L. Anthony, Beams)

RUCKS: Cox, Fraser (Graham, Spencer)

FORWARDS: Pavlich, Deledio, Chapman, Houlihan, Higgins, Skipworth, Yarran (W. Thompson, Hogan)

Yet another team:

B: Fisher, Goddard, Cornes, McMahon, Bock, Raines, Grimes, (Hill, Suban)

M: Ablett, Bruce, Gibbs, Mackay, Rich, Otten (Anthony, Beams)

R: Cox, Petrie (Spencer, Jacobs)

F: Deledio, Giansiracusa, S Johnson, Houlihan, Higgins, Skipworth, Yarran (Walker, M Brown)

Ive gone for broke in my backs - 5 keepers who will all average 85+. Still got 13 keepers in the squad and a couple of good captain options. Bruce is a smokey, but one that I think will definitely pay off. Yarran is a new inclusion, with Gartlett not getting promoted his spot is safe.

Thoughts?

Here goes.. appreciate any feedback. 6 Players coming off injuries, but Houlihan, Raines, Hasleby, Cornes are considered fairly minimal risks for me, whilst Hentschel and Higgins have shown enough over the last few weeks to be given a crack, despite the risk.

If you have negative feedback on a player, I'd like to know why - an earlier post blasted someone for having Neon Leon, yet he has had an awesome pre-season after showing glimpses last year, not to mention reportedly being the hardest trainer at the Pies. Bird has been picked after a pretty good debut season last year and a good pre-season in '09.

Hodge, Goddard, Enright, C Cornes, Houlihan, Frawley, Raines (Hill, Petrenko)

Ablett, Swan, J Selwood, Hasleby, Bird, Higgins (Anthony, Beams)

Cox, Leuenberger (Graham, Jacobs)

Franklin, Davis, Bate, T Cloke, J Riewoldt, Yarran, Hentschel (M Brown, T Walker)

Almost looking settled on my side now.

Backs: Fisher, Goddard, Enright, Cornes, Bock, Raines, Grimes (Brougton, Petrenko)

Mids: Ablett, Kornes, Selwood, Gibbs, Rich, Anthony (Robinson, Beams)

Rucks: Cox, HMac (Spencer, Jacobs)

Fwd: Richo, Deledio, S Johnson, Houlihan, Higgins, Skipworth, Brown (Walker, Thompson)

My thoughts...

Backs: Gone for 5 keepers - too many? I see the backline as a risky position, so I've gone for mostly good players, and mainly I think I would rather get a premium here than say a $360k forward who may or may not turn premium, like Sylvia or Cloke etc.

Mids: 2 premiums, 2 potential premiums and 2 rookies - Premiums etc are pretty self-explanatory, but with rookies i'm banking on any 2 playing each week for the first few weeks. Risky, but i'll stick with it.

Rucks: Pretty straightforward - gone el cheapo with bench.

Fwd: Mid-pricers are stock standard, and 3 premiums are just a good mix of what I could afford. Looking to start one of the 3 rookie priced players, as I think there'll always be one playing. Have decided to pass up on Ziebell to use cash elsewhere.

Thoughts? Have I gone too few mid-pricers? I feel that the mid-pricers I do have are the players that everyone should have, and nobody unique... I just don't have the faith or knowledge of these types of players.

This is a team i made tonight called "Risk Team 3000" lol What do you all think?

B:
Fisher, Goddard, Cornes, Gram, Myers, Grimes, Hill (Cheney, Suban)

M: Ablett, Bruce, Gibbs, Masten, Rich, Anthony (Robinson, Beams)

R: Cox, Mcintosh (Spencer, Graham)

F: Pavlich, Richardson, Deledio, Didak, Higgins, Skipworth, Ziebell (Sidebottom, M Brown)

Milburn-Age and injuries means he won't improve this season, IMO.
Wojac-He is not a big ball winner, he is not a DTer.
Campbell-Who?
Newton-Horrible footballer, constantly looks disinterested, get him out.

Hopefully that gives you some thing to think about!

Cheers Dayman, much appreciated.

Backs- Doughty, Goddard, Cornes, Drummond, Houlihan, Raines, Hill (Suban, Suckling)
Mids: Bruce, Selwood, Cross, Dal Santo, Simpson, Rich (Beams, Joseph)
Rucks: Sandilands Mcintosh
Forwards: Pav, Deledio, Stokes, Gia, Vezpremi, Higgins, Zieball (Thomson Gumbleton)

Im pretty happy with my team.
Can you please rate out of 10. Feedback would be good:)

Revamped and hopefully improved - any thoughts will be appreciated.

BACKS -
Goddard, C Cornes, Whelan, Lockyer, Malceski, McPharlin, Raines (Jamison, Suban)

MIDS -
Judd, Ablett, Cousins, Rich, Knights, Robinson (Cook, Beams)

RUCKS -
Cox, Renouf (Cordy, Jacobs)

FORWARDS -
Pavlich, Richardson, Roughead, Houlihan, Davey-Ess, Hansen, Hentschel(Ziebell, Sidebottom)

Looking at my latest team I think my backs are the weakest link. Currently I have them lined up as:

Hodge, Goddard, Malceski, Jesse Smith, Myers, Drum, Suban (Rance, Petrenko)

That collection seems a bit weak to me - any thoughts?

Downgrade your other positions, the only back rookie i would start is Hill. JWS is injured wont play round one. Find some money to upgrade JWS to a Cornes or Fisher and co, then find some more money to get Suban->Hill. Otherwise your looking at 2 doughnuts come round 1.

Definitely change it. At least get rid of Smith and Suban.Drum i'm not so sure about either. I also heard some doubts on Myers whether he'd play round 1, but should be right. Hodge is also coming back from injury and Malceski is a bit of a risk but go with him if you think he's up to it.

Backs:Fischer, Goddard, C Cornes, Birchall, Malceski, Houlihan/Drummond Adcock, Raines (Petrenko, Suban)

Mids: Ablett, K Cornes, Selwood, Gibbs/Foley, Skipworth, Rich (Beams,)

Rucks: Cox, McIntosh

Forwards: Pavlich, Deledio, J Brown, Lucas, Higgins, Sidebottom, Gumbleton (Ziebell,) (Last 4 swap depending on whos playing)

Can either downgrade gibbs to foley and have drummond or adcock in the backs or have houlihan and gibbs

20000 left over

Thoughts PLEASE

Guys here is my updated team. Not sure if its final yet but its close.

Backs: S.Fisher, Goddard, Cornes, Gilbee, Adcock, Houlihan, Raines (Petrenko, Suban)

Mids: Ablett, J.Selwood, Gibbs, Griffin, T.Tuck, Rich (Beams, L.Anthony)

Rucks: Cox, Hmac (Graham, Jacobs)

Forwards:
Pav, Deledio, Gia, Higgins, Skippy, Ziebell, Yarran (Walker, Gumbleton)

I am not too sure with starting both Ziebell and Yarran, i would much rather start just one, however i don't have enough money to upgrade either of them (only 10k in bank).

Also thinking of starting Anthony instead of Rich and then trading Rich to a 86grand rookie for some cash. Not sure though.....

Thoughts?

Every team is starting to look exactly the same.
I was worrying that it is too risky to have too many guys like Houlihan, Raines, Higgins, Hentschel, Skippy, but it looks like everyone has them.

Ok getting closer to the start of season, injury concerns everyday. This is probably going to be my final side, baring any more injury concerns. Let me no if l should change it up a bit please???

Goddard, Enright, Cornes, Adcock, Houlihan, Raines, Hill
(patrenko, suban)

Ablett, Cornes, Cross, Hayes, Rich, Beams
(anthony, robinson)

Cox, Hille
(spencer, jacobs)

Deledio, SJ, Bommer, Davis, Higgins, Skippworth, Thompson
(mbrown, walker)

with my side, i havnt done this on purpose but i have selected a side that i feel comfortable with yet i have $0 left over

will this be a bad thing once i need to make a trade or 2 ? or banking on certain players rising , shuld i be able to go ahead with my side as is ?

oh btw, why havnt many people gone with currie in emerg for the rucks?

It is fine not having any left over. There are no rules it is whatever you are comfortable with. It means that if you cop an injury you could look at a sideways if it is a premium, or could downgrade it to a cash cow who will go up in price.

Oh, by the way, editing it for "adding shit". Generally it is nice if you remove shit rather than adding it :) want quality posts not shit.
