Dwight Howard could outruck any AFL player by over a foot

Can reach over 13' thats about 4m, I don't reckon Sandilands could jump to 3.6m

I reckon its only a matter of time before we see a huge American in the ruck, clearly they would dominate.

Its been talked about before, but focusing on the ruck, they would obliterate the opposition. Dean Brogan is a great ruck player, doesn't have a lot of speed or mobility but still is very successful as a ruck.

But the days where all a ruckman had to do was jump for the ball and hit it to a teammate are well and truely gone. Ruckmen are expected to contribute in other area's aswell and if they cant do that then they wont get a game.

It would be easy t recruit a tall american and they would be good in the actual ruck but they would be hopeless everywhere else on the ground. They wouldnt get a game because of that.

College players would stick with it and if they can't make the NBA go to Europe and still earn a heck of a lot more than they could here.

Yeah understood, and the population in the states is huge. However, if you took Geelong, would they care if a player like that just stood there and won every tap and did nothing else, 50+ h/o every game, 50 + clearances every game, the guy wouldn't need to do much more.

In a game nowdays where foot skill are soo importaint and retaining possession is a must, people under-estimate sandilands, hes a spud around the ground, but not many 6'10+ guys get better then him with being able to play the game.

Im sure there probably is some 7'2" african bloke who can kick alright and jump to the moon, but would be a huge punt, and might eventually lead to a downfall, you need 22 players able to contribute around the ground.

Yeah Dwight Howard can jump that high in a non-contest situation. Footy involves a lot of crash and bash, especially when you ruck at centre bounce, it's a totally different game.
