But I bet you were all over the Freo players Mad Monday thread?

Yes I agree its probably nothing to worry about..just as Freos efforts were.

Excellent.

In his autobiography, Glen Jakovich credits our extremely drunk and disorderly 1991 mad monday with being one of the major reasons we rebounded from the '91 GF loss to go all the way the following year- hopefully we're following the template.

Hopefully Meadster, hopefully!

I have the faith.....

Oh god..
By the time this thread has any info relevant to the thread title it will be buried under 10 pages of crap.
You could probably start a thread about every clubs mad monday as I'm sure each club has a few players who like to let loose.

Can you elaborate on this? How exactly did it help?

Unsurprisingly he's a bit hazy on the details, the team apparently played a lot of drinking games involving funnels, skulling cans under pressure (the old whack a nail in them trick), consumption of controlled substances, trashing hotels etc etc etc, and basically did all the things teams could get away with doing back when mad monday and end of season trips actually meant something.

Anyway, his thesis is that the experiences of drinking until comatose and snapping each other's underwear or what have you bonded the team into an extremely tight group and carried them to a flag the following year. Sounds plausible to me.

As a segue to that, I always think that Worsfold's eagerness to get McIntosh and Jakovich to retire was mostly about getting rid of anyone in the team who could call his bluff when he put an angry face and told players to behave themselves on end of season trips and the like.

Nail!!!! Real men use their teeth.

Advisable not to try the teeth technique when you're 3 sheets to the wind. I woke up one morning with some rather painfull scratches & cuts from doing that. Surprisingly enough I didn't notice it at the time...

Anyway, using teeth (or a nail) makes the hole too small. Screwdriver is the way to go.

The story goes Andrew Embley and Woosha got blind drunk and got so drunk they lost consciousness, all the boys were wrestling with Woosha which lead to someone getting a nasty cut on there head.

Michael Gardiner was really out of it and kept to himself fuelling the rumors that he is going to be traded.

Sounds good, wish I was there :D
