Good:

Gardiners influence up forward and around the ground was all class given his lack of pre-season and finished with a great return of 3 goals at crucial stages of the game.

Chris Judd threatened to singlehandedly rip apart the dogs in the second quarter. Went quiet at stages but was all class kicking 4 goals.

Phil Matera and Ben Cousins getting better as the game progressed.

Chad Fletchers form late.

Sampi's last quarter.

Also the telling marks Jakovich took around the half forward line and 17 possessions and 7 marks going a little bit more unoticed that his other younger teammates.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Bad:

Poor defensive effort throughout. If we had a mediochre midfield we would of lost the game by a fair margin.

A poor effort from McDougall. If he can't deliver, he should not be in this side.

Not having a Fraser Gehrig to reply to Rawlings 7 goals

Lynch, Carroll and Greens efforts.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

To improve:

Be accountable down back.

Not having a Fraser Gehrig....

I'd put that in the Good section.

Mukiwa's review

I've woken up with no voice and a sore throat. My goodness what an amazing game!!!!! It was like being on an emotional rollercoaster ride for about three hours! I'll have grey hair by the end of the season if we continue to play like that!

A big high five to the VICTORIAN WEST COAST CHEER SQUAD! It was sensational sitting behind our goals in the last quarter. When Ashley Sampi set sail with a long bomb in the dying seconds. I thought we were going to raise the roof off Telstra Dome....

Getting down to the game. We owe an incredible amount of gratitude to our midfield team of Fletcher, Judd and Cousins. Our backmen and forward line (with the exception of Fido) were non-existant for three quarters of the match. Gardi turned the match around by dominating in the ruck.

Having said that, I think Trent Carroll tried hard. He sailed close to the line on more than a few occassions and probably should have come under more attention from the men in white. However I'd prefer he play that way rather than just serve goals up to Rawlings on a platter. Jacko also tried hard, unlike some......

Humm, Green and Lynch were dreadful. They were showed up badly and next week against the power there'll be no where to hide. Hope Hunter will be back and I'm really looking forward to having Glass, Gaspar and Collica back on the park.

McDougall is a hack. He's lazy and he lacks a second effort. He consistently led to early and towards the pocket rather than leading up the ground. No wonder our midfielders are having to kick on the run from fifty.

If we continue to play like we did yesterday our midfield and gardi will be buggered by round ten and our season will fade away like previous years.

Still, we got the four points on the road against a very fired-up doggies side. GO YOU COASTERS

trust me to focus on the negatives...

how bad was cox in the ruck? his timing was way off for most of the game.

However it was good to be able to rotate your rucks, give them a break so they can run around more, nice one woosha.

The Victorian crowd was fantastic. I'm still suprised we had only 800 vic members, there were about 800 in the cheer squad. Maybe they were Hungry Jacks empoyees.

i totally agree sedders, cox was LOST in the ruck especially in the first 5 or 10 mins of the game, it was obvious Darcey couldnt/cant jump, cox realistically should of had his measure in those opening minutes but instead darcey got 3 or 4 big hit outs forward with at least 2 resulting in a goal.

Yeah, Coxy was a bit off to start off with but I felt he finished well. He was in the ruck in the fourth quarter and he really did do well then so I dont think its worth abusing him too much. Thats the beauty of having Gardi aswell, we can bring Gardi in when he's needed (like when were 34 points down midway through the first quarter :) )

Something that Mead has said in the past really comes to mind now: " Bring Gardiner into the ruck to warm the midfield up"

I honestly believe thats what Woosha did yesterday and it really worked well.

We really have to knuckle down now, as someone already suggested, There'll be nowhere to hide against Port Adelaide next week! We need to sharpen up!

Cousins and Judd were fantastic for you guys yesterday, we just couldnt stop them. Develop a key forward and WC will be a top 3 or 4 team. Congrats.

P.S if you havent jumped on Cousins for the Brownlow do so right away. ;)

did so on friday when he was $16. its already shortened to $12.

Carlyp, agreed, cox did get it right in the end, and his performance was made to look worse by darcy refusing to jump.
