19-year-old Brynn Teakle will line up for his first league game with the Sharks. Hailing from Northampton, the 202cm forward/ruck made a case for selection through his solid form in the Reserves this year. With Strnadica coming out of the side this week, it gives Teakle an opportunity up forward.

And you bring in decent recruits & ex-AFL'ers each year. A few good signs though towards the end of the year and some impressive youngsters coming through (though a number of them are destined for the AFL system).
 
Whilst a 5 win season is nothing to boast about, definitely a huge improvement from 2018...bar the first 5 games and the first WCE loss and 2nd $ubi loss....can think of 5 games where EF were never in the game or were hammered....Obviously still a long way to go, but with recent re-signings of Griff, Kommer, Loersch, Boekhorst and Jupp for 2020..along with WAFL quality players in Manning, Strnadica, Jansen, Snadden and Eardley...the development of Bennett, Jackson and Baskerville over the year.....plus greater understanding of the Monaghan way....EF fans can be very optimistic for next year....no doubt players will be moved on or leave on their own accord, but a good core group of players is certainly evident.....other youngsters in Murdoch, Murphy, Tassone, Ryan, Davidson, Bailey and Monaghan will better for the regular exposure to league footy.....definitely need another quality mid, tall KP defender and a goal kicking small forward.....with WP financial woes who knows a Nelson or Black may team up with Monaghan again....if Geelong go out in straight sets, maybe Harry Taylor might call it quits and retire from the AFL....is Fasolo needed at Carlton?.....no doubt Sandi might want to keep his boots on, tho not sure his height is what EF needs, despite his obvious class....

The reserves could go deep with a few to drop back from playing league footy in the latter part of the season....Hebiton, Creasey, Davidson, LesterSmith, Fletcher etc....tho EP will have a few to drop back as well....

From the colts it will be a given the likes of Luke Jackson Sharp, Rivers and Ruscoe will get drafted, with Warner and Jai Jackson likely draftees or rookie chances....the latter 2 would give the club two tough inside mids if not AFL bound in 2020....other youngsters in McGuire, Trefry, Wright and Curley may be prospective senior players in 2020 from the colts.....all in all EF had a more competitive season which is all the fans hope for after the Wiley reign....still a lot of work to do but definitely more hope and expectation with Monaghan at the helm.
 
Great to see the EF reserves going deep in the finals....Great wins over EP and Subi....Perham kicking a few v EP and then Stokes v Subi....pity Nic Watson is away overseas on a Uni student exchange....tho good on the kid for getting some life experience outside of footy....
 
Yep well done to the ladies team...one way to add a flag to EF stagnant premiership collection.....

Pity the reserves bowed out with a disappointing performance v WP in the prelim on Sunday....but all in all great effort by the team to push as deep as they did this year, esp after last year's bottom 2 finish....tho not sure how many in that reserves side are good enough for league footy or will even be part of Monaghans plans for 2020....
 
If he has no luck in the AFL can come back to us

Chris Masten's 12-year stint at West Coast is over, with the club confirming the 30-year-old would look elsewhere to continue his AFL career.
Masten said he would "look at other options" as he eyes a chance with a rival club following 215 games at the Eagles

just hope doesn't play for the Whitegood Lions.
 
Be interesting to see if Harry Taylor retires after that Geelong loss.....be very handy to have Taylor back in EF defence...think EF lacked a tall defender to take the likes of Keitel, Shaw et al in the comp....

On the money there mate....Taylor signs for 1 final season....can't blame the guy financially, tho got a feeling in may be that one season too many for Taylor at the top level....hope not, class act on and off the field, hate to see him finish off a distinguished Geelong career more in the VFL than the AFL....

‘Budgie’ as he is affectionately known, has been recognised for his outstanding service to The East Fremantle Football Club both on and off the field.
