Another derby loss and once again another opposition player cashing in to make the difference between an EF loss or win....
Wilson for Peel - 5 Ruscoe for WCE - 4 Kohlmann for SD - 4 Graham for EP - 5 Stubbs for Perth - 5 and Main for SF with 6.

Can't give the opposition a 5 goal head start and expect to win.....congrats to SF on the win and we'll done on all those folk - 7000+of them filling up Freo Oval.....hopefully EF new digs can be up n running by the next derby....though may need a few fences up to cash in on the turnstile profits.

From pics folk have posted on FB, looks greener, though sandy in some patches.

Huge game tomorrow v WP. Side is out....Boekhorst, Zadow, McDonald and Bailey out....the former two either managed or injured during the week at training and the latter two dropped to the reserves.

Schoenfeld, Lawler, Gorringe and McGuire come in....EF need goals and need to have no repeats of that Derby 1st quarter....WP are always a hard nut to crack, as EP found out last Mon

Blakiston carried on his best player performance till the end......amazing stats considering the conditions for the big fella.....19 possessions and 60 + hit outs. Teakle who? Be some interesting discussion at the selection meeting for the Subi game. Boekhorst and Marlin surely return if available, plus the reserves won well on the weekend, with McDonald, Murphy, Knight, Rankin & McGuire all putting their hands up. No Cripps for the 3rd week on the trot....injured or gone back to Northampton?

Late on Friday afternoon, the Town of East Fremantle advised us that while good progress has been made in recent weeks, the playing surface remains narrowly short of the threshold required to receive approval from the West Australian Football Commission.

Like you, we remain frustrated and disappointed. However, we will not compromise on player safety or the long-term sustainability of the oval.

We remain optimistic that we will be playing football on the oval in 2024 – with testing to take place in late June ahead of a tentative return date to Shark Park of July 13. This fixture is the Grand Final rematch against Peel Thunder – a fitting game to welcome us back to Moss Street where we will unfurl our 2023 Premiership flags.

Cripps apparently playing for Kulin-Kondinin in the Eastern Districts league....played 2 games since mid May....strange considering he made his league debut earlier in the year....work related perhaps?

Should have had 20 goals at half time.
Seems like our kicking is not as good as last year.

Boekhurst was in a lot of pain.

HMarsh, Mead and Walker in the reserves.
I didn't see the Boekhorst injury mate.....what happened?......going to be some interesting selection decisions after the bye for the coaching team.....Jansen and Baskerville were replaced last minute by McDonald and Murphy, who both played well I thought.... as you say HMarsh, Walker and Meade played reserves, plus Turner, Marlin and RMcGuire were absent too......

Due for an update in the next day or two.

Another 8 pt game coming up for EF and Cl this Sun. EF had returned to some semblance of their 2023 form of late, with two good wins v WP & Subi. In a season where EF have been up n down, their biggest losing margin has been under 4 goals. Got lucky wn those SD and Perth wins, but unlucky with that EP loss.....whilst EF always lose to Peel first up and their Derby record over the last decade or so is well documented. The less said about that WCER loss the better!

Pretty sure Marlin and Turner will be back, as will Jansen and Baskerville......Boekhorst surely will be an out, though one can only hope no news is good news. HMarsh will no doubt play another game in the reserves and hopefully be back for the Perth game. RMcGuire will find it hard getting back in due to Blakiston's form and his recent run of injuries. Some tough decisions at the selection table no doubt, though nothing wrong with a bit stiff competition within the ranks.

For me Boekhorst, McDonald, Dunscombe, & Bailey could be the outs, with Baskerville, Marlin, Turner and Jansen coming in...but who knows what will happen on the training track before Sun.

Injury hub updated - Boekhorst out till round 18, better outcome than I thought. Marlin a test.....Cripps and Ritchie the other 2 out indefinitely and till round 18 respectively.

EF have been consistently inconsistent this season, as reflected by their win / loss ratio and %......some big wins and some tight losses.....just had too many passengers v Cl. Hopefully that will be reflected on Thurs at the selection table. Congrats to Cl, just wanted that 5th spot more.

Would of thought the clock stopped, if the stretcher is needed for an injured player....but hey who knows these days.

Last Wednesday, independent turf specialists undertook extensive testing of the oval. While there has been progression, there remains a handful of small areas that were flagged as non-compliant.

We have been in frequent and ongoing communication with the Town of East Fremantle and Programmed (turf contractor) since Wednesday and have received confirmation that additional work will be undertaken this week.

Cam Sutherland – former WACA curator – is now leading this project. Cam is confident that the work being undertaken this week will position the oval to be deemed safe for play this season. The threshold for a new oval surface is higher than an existing surface, so we will continue to work with the turf experts and West Australian Football Commission to ensure all necessary work is undertaken to give us the best possible chance of getting onto the ground this year. The oval will be re-tested mid-July.
