Heard that Eardley only got a reprimand for his bump on Peel's Bo Allan.....read somewhere, an esteemed WAFL journalist, thought Eardley was a monty for a minimum 3 week ban.....play on as they say.

As we continue to fight for a playable oval and access to our new facility, we have been forced to relocate our August 3 match against South Fremantle, and can confirm that it will be played at Fremantle Community Bank Oval.

We thank South Fremantle Football Club and the City of Fremantle for accommodating us and we look forward to working with them to deliver a fantastic spectacle of football.

The rivalry between our clubs is fierce but we both recognise the importance of the Derby fixture as the biggest game in the WAFL calendar – this was clear by the record-breaking crowd on WA Day and we look forward to seeing an army of blue & white alongside a sea of red & white for the round 18 clash.

In the meantime we remain incredibly frustrated that we are unable to return to Shark Park.

The ongoing and well documented delays with the oval have been compounded by the failure of the Town of East Fremantle to provide a reasonable Sub-Lease and License Agreement to allow us to return to our home.

The state government has made a significant investment to enable this development and it is bitterly disappointing that this has not yet resulted in providing a home for our football club and a venue for the community to enjoy WAFL football.

It is in the interests of all parties that we are granted access to the facility on fair terms. We regret that this current situation is having a negative impact on other sporting clubs including the Fremantle City Football Club (soccer), East Fremantle Bowls Club and the East Fremantle Croquet Club. Belgravia (the operators of the new facility) are also financially impacted, as are neighbouring businesses which would normally enjoy a booming day of trade on WAFL match days at Shark Park.

We understand how frustrating this is and we are incredibly grateful to you – our loyal members and fans – who have stood by the Club. Once again, on the weekend just gone, many of you made the long trek down to Mandurah and helped get the boys over the line against all the odds.

We are currently working through contingency planning for the remaining 2024 fixtures and will make further announcements over the coming weeks.

On another note, we join the WAFL community in mourning the tragic death of South Fremantle Colts player Nick Campo on the weekend. Our thoughts go out to his family, friends and teammates – and we offer our best wishes for a speedy recovery to those injured in the crash.

This tragic event puts our current challenges into perspective, and all East Fremantle players will wear black armbands for this Saturday’s match at West Perth as a sign of respect.

RMcGuire back in reserves. Need everyone fit
Good to see Reuben back, though will need a few games on the trot to get some proper match fitness...not sure where Schoenfeld is, but looks like after the bye Boekhorst, Joyce and Jupp back....will definitely need all hands on deck with SF, SD and EP after the bye

EAST Fremantle council has adopted its 2024-25 budget alongside its Corporate Business Plan, with allocations for the environment, suburban infrastructure and women’s sport.

East Freo residents and property owners will be facing a 4.25 per cent rate rise, which the council says is “in line” with its Revenue Strategy and Long-term Financial Plan.

The Town’s environment and climate action was a major focus of the budget, with over $700,000 allocated towards an electric vehicle charging station as part of the Community Park development.

As with its Fremantle counterparts, the council says it has a “commitment to increase action” on the town’s urban tree canopy, including “resistance” to WA’s polyphagous shothole borer outbreak which was originally found in an East Freo backyard.

The Town’s infrastructure is also getting an upgrade, with $325,400 going towards footpaths in certain areas and $200,000 allocated for carparks.

Riverside Road will also be receiving funding from the state government through the Regional Road Group and Roads to Recovery grants totalling over $480,000 to support its upgrade.

The Corporate business plan, which was adopted alongside the budget, will address the Town’s “priorities” including climate action, heritage protection, the Community Park, regeneration of the Town Centre, and community engagement over the next four years.

A notable priority of the plan is to update the Council’s business systems, which are “outdated” and are hindering the Town’s “improvements and innovation”.

This will include an upgrade in the Council’s online services, according to the plan.

According to mayor Jim O’Neill, the Corporate Business Plan was formulated from consultation from East Fremantle residents.

“We have listened to our community and recognise and understand that these priorities must be our focus,” Mr O’Neill said.

that was hard work. Looks like bye is needed
Fantastic effort by EF considering they are missing Jupp, Boekhorst, Joyce, Schoenfeld and now O'Reilly....irrespective to how WP may be traveling, any win over them at Joondy is a good one. As you say the bye comes at a good time.....hopefully all 5 will be up n running for the Derby.

With four matches remaining in the home and away season and a race on for finals spots, Monaghan was confident his side would find it’s strongest form at the right time of year.

“We feel we can still play better footy. We haven’t been a long way off all year, our biggest losing margin this year has been 19 points,” he said.

“We’ve been up and down; we haven’t probably played our best, but we have been far from poor. I think there’s a lot of sides in reasonable form and the competition is tight.”

I read that Leggett got reported on the WP win....did he get off with a reprimand or did he cop a suspension? Hopefully not the latter!

Find that Rodriguez stat surprising due to EF colts losing their last 6/7 games....plus Cl 3 grades being so strong.....

Yeah I can't find anything either about Leggett....usually the EF fans on FB air the Goss...but nothing as yet I cam find

Leggett suspended for 1 week, Bailey has a ruptured spleen....Joyce, Jupp, Boekhorst and O'Reilly all should be back.

Every game is a crunch game for EF till the season's end. I guess you have to beat everyone if you want to win a flag....

Blakiston has seamlessly replaced Teakle and RMcGuire in the ruck. Just as mobile and taller than both. Poor RMcGuire can't take a trick with injury this year......torn quad now, nor sure how bad, but surely a season ending one?

Great win today, important 4 points and a % booster to boot. Another big game next week v the form team of the last few months, who will want some redemption for that McDonald clutch goal way back in the early part of the season.

Another big game coming up for EF. Sneak a win here and EF should strengthen their finals position and actually get a look at a top 3 spot. Tassone out with concussion, which might mean Eardley goes back.....though after that 4.5 effort v SF, can see why the temptation will be to leave Cam up front.

English, Joyce and Leggett should all push for a 22 berth.....besides Tassone and possibly Rankin....who else makes way. I think Walker and McGuire are needed for their outside zip, as SD are pretty quick across the ground.

All to play for, should be a cracking contest.
