There was talk on radio we should wear the Indigenous jumper this week to farewell Eddie. Great idea but what about this, and please dont take this the wrong way, Eddie wears the traditional Carlton jumper an everyone else wears the indigenous one. This to symbolize Eddies passionate plea that it has to be everyone else to fight against racism, not him. Thoughts?

What can be said about Eddie that hasn’t already been said?

Truly a legend of the game. Loved by Carlton (and Adelaide) and many fans outside of that. A terrific mentor for all (perhaps particularly indigenous teammates). Can’t wait to see what comes next.

Thank you Eddie, you almost always put a smile on my face with your ability to do things us mere mortals can only dream of.

You only get an Eddie Betts once or twice in a lifetime, so glad I got to see all your career, even when you weren’t in Navy Blue, still couldn’t be unhappy when you were kicking miracle goals or terrorising defenders while beaming from ear to ear.

Thankyou for being a champion player and using your profile to champion just causes. You are a true legend of the game and it will be poorer for your retirement.

I don't think I can adequately put into words just how much Eddie Betts has meant to me and inspired me as a Carlton and footy fans over the years, even when he was at the Crows.

The last 20 years have been almost a weekly hell for us Blue Baggers, but Eddie and infectious smile and love for the game and freakish goal kicking ability are memories I wish greatly treasure for the rest of my life, as much as our 87 and 95 flags.

Cannot say much more except to say I have the utmost love, admiration and respect for Eddie, who had also overcome so much adversity growing up to be a true icon and champion of the game.

And his anti racism fight and messages are more important than ever than.

Going to be an emotional mess once the final siren sounds and the boys chair him off.

Oh you certainly did Eddie, and so much more.

Always loved that you loved the game Eddie. Genuine enjoyment is written on your face when you are out there trying to make stuff happen or support a teammate with a block or shepherd.
