This kid is fantastic. Has stepped up in the last 12 months to be regarded as one of the premier small forwards in the competition. Adds so much pressure and dynamic to our forward line. Can't wait to see him and Yarran crumbing our tall forwards in Rd.1.

Has come on really well although something inside me says we could use his evasive skills in the middle to more effect. I seem to remember Ratts saying something similar awhile ago although he needs a bigger tank. However, been in the game awhile now so maybe his tank is as big as it's going to get. I liked a slightly different role he played in a game last year where he led up the ground more, had 27 touches I think and was almost BOG.

Like him on a HFF eg Rd 3 Vs Bombers. Now with Yarran and Garlett and even the return of Hoops i think we will find him playing a bit further up the ground compared to previous years. Good mark for his size, quick and skills are pretty good. Dont think we will see him kick as many goals, but instead of 14-15 stats we may see him with 20-22.

Pretty sure that's the game I was thinking of. Geez he looked good that day and agree, with Yarran, Hoops and Walker playing forward and maybe even Garlett later on Eddie can be relased into this type of role.

Something tells me that we haven't seen the best of Eddie just yet.

Once he builds on his consistency we'll be a better team for it. He's very dangerous when he bursts into games so if he can build on this and do it for an entire game it'll add something more to our team and make us that little more dangerous.

Eddie should mould his game on that of Leon Davis who has only relatively recently made the move from permanent small forward to part-time midfielder, part time forward. His pace, evasiveness and skill could be used to great effect in the middle of the park.

Eddie is massively under-rated. His issue is consistency, but in terms of a goal kicking opportunist inside 50, there is no one better in the AFL. He'll make something out of nothing. Lots of tricks. Really looking forward to Eddie, Yarran and Garlett working together up forward this year. Won't take long for these guys to read each other and work nicely with Fev. We have the most talented midfield in the AFL now, so these guys should have plenty of opportunity. :)

I recall prior to him being drafted, there was quite a bit of talk that he was a monty to be taken in the ND, however, as we all know, we picked him up in the PSD. There's no doubting his skill, however, the query was always going to be his height. Now that he has put some muscle on, he's not being thrown off the ball like he was when he first started playing AFL.

Now that he's got 75 games under his belt, I could also see him have some bursts in the middle, perhaps releasing a Judd or Gibbs up forward for a spell.

Totally agree, I seem to recall he played in the guts against Melbourne r22 2007, and didn't look out of this depth. He had a big one against Essendon early last year as well.

Was very good at reading the ball from the rucks.

Personally i love the fact that he never gives up. His chasing/ harrassing work and closing speed is awesome for a smaller bloke.

Tenacious little bugger.

All for rotating him through the midfield, he was fantastic on the weekend.

Must be in the top 5 best small forwards defensively - incredibly good when the opposition has the ball. Has great skills, and excellent mark for his size.

He won't be a top class small forward until he kicks over 35 goals a year consistently, with a couple of 50 goal years at some point.

How often do we see him use his pace with the ball in his hands? I'm sure he's done it, but I can't remember an instance of it. I know he's usually deep, but I'd love to see him burn off the opposition at half forward and kick a running goal from time to time.

Spot on, Aramari. :thumbsu:

Noob after 7 years? That's some dead slow typing right there.

You're in the same boat thy, it's just a shame that you have something to say about EVERYTHING!

I hear ya, TIG. Will attempt to limit my basic stupidity to a minimum and cheers for the heads-up. :thumbsu:

cheeky prick

Eddie is forever improving which is great...but he definantly isn't a premier crumber...he's as good a crumber as Cloke is a CHF - B-grade.

However i suspect we haven't seen his best footy yet :thumbsu:

His presence when he came on in the 2nd half against geelong was very obvious. He reads ruck contests and drop of the ball very well and can make the impossible seem like a breeze.

Fwd pocket can be difficult position to catch attention from.

In our best 22 and is only 21, lots of time for Eddie to continue to shine.

You are a tough marker Ara  Rough count - we have only had 50 fifty goal scorers but 10 of the 50 were Sticks, 6 times Soapy, Fev up to 5. Very few small forwards to do it - from my time Syd Jackson, Brian Walsh, Kenny Sheldon and Wayne Johnston (mostly on the ball) all have done it once

Be a minimalist - the only footy book you need is the Record Season Guide :thumbsu:
