Sadly I'm not surprised by the outcome and I think this is a tragedy for football to be honest! A systematic doping regime by a whole football club has resulted in no punishments and yet two of our own players are going to get severely punished and rightly so if there b sample tests are shown to be 'positive' but the mind boggles sometimes.

Well something happened, as Essendon were found guilty of it happening.

This case was about the players who have now been found not guilty, Essendon were not on trial in this case.

I don't see how anyone can be. It's a Pyrrhic victory at the very least. The club's reputation is forever blackened and supporters are behaving like the club has been absolved of all sin.

At the most any level headed supporter should be happy to have gotten away with it, but insist the club removes Hird and Reid at the very least to avoid even the slimmest chance that such a shambolic program will ever be run at the club again.

I have a newfound disrespect for most Essendon supporters.

I supported Essendon players and supporters for their hope and ignorance, but they way they have smashed Keeffe, Thomas and Crowley (Freo and Collingwood) when they themselves (both the club and the players) were found guilty of governance issues and a systemic injection program defies belief.

Actually, the way the rules work is that, without proof that the players had the drugs in them, that the little niggling footnote about "intent" controls everything in this decision, and you cannot demonstrate the players had any intent to use a prohibited substance.

If Dank gets done for supplying, it still does not demonstrate intent on the part of the player.

But anyone reading between the lines - and the people I have spoken with in the sports science field - can see the players were at the very least wilfully ignorant of their responsibilities under the program. There's no way a professional sportsman should behave as they did. Ever.

Does it not raise alarm bells that nobody at the club can or will say what the players were given, but that they are certain that they weren't given anything illegal?

This is not a tidy bow on the whole thing. It's been wrapped in crumpled brown paper secured with duct tape and shoved into a drawer in the hope everyone will forget and move on.

While we're handing out pats on the back, during my time of frequenting the HTB to try to represent the Essendon side of things, you mxett were a beacon of light.
Through all the bullying and derision and ridicule you copped, you managed to maintain a reasoned calm perserverance that was an example to all the crazed foamers who tried to shout you down.
