Truly North are the only team not allowed to get better. If this was Collingwood or one of those other shit teams they'd be trumpeting about the dynasty unfolding.

I understand what you're saying, but I don't think that's what this is. We have plenty of good young talent in the team still.
Collingwood landed an AA player 12 months after a premiership.

Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone.

Gatt's another player who may have to go to another level to keep her spot. And I'm a fan of hers.
If there’s one player who’s capable of going to another level, it’s Gatt. She’s still only a baby. Both her and Ruby are only beginning to understand what they are capable of. Chuck in Craven and you have Garner/Kearney/Bruton Mk2!

100% spot on shintemaster, look at the last five years and what we have put up with not just from supporters from other clubs but the the media {if that's what you call them these days} and even now to a lesser extent we're still getting it although I get the feeling, looking on opposition boards that there are some smart judges, concerned about how good we are going to be. Reading this article just made me laugh and think along the same lines as you, but if it were Collingwood, Geelong or Carlton and possibly throw the swans in there, the heading would be something like this;
"..........fc in masterful trade swap, how ............. engineered clever strategy plan"!

Even some of the rival clubs want us to fail judging from what i've read in the media by the sounds.

Amy Smith is in a similar boat imo. Underrated athletic traits and her skills keep getting better, grand final was probably the best game of her career. Excited to see what she can become

I’m not a fan of all chips in, win as many premierships as possible now then fall off a cliff.
We are in a strong position, our aim should be perennial contenders for decades to come.

So 30-40 years from now we are the team with the most premierships. That’s how you build foundations for a club that will last for ever.

Well I am a big fan. Win them now and win as many as possible.

I'll be long gone in 30 to 40 years time. No use to me then.

Yep I'm a big fan. I would say great runner and athlete but the footy skills could go to another level I think in terms of her being a bit more decisive and clean with the ball (she can fumble it or run over it, but it's nitpicking given her youth).
I'd say the same with Craven and Smith in terms they could also find another level in a few years.

I don't think we'll fall off a cliff completely. We'll either try to stay up like Geelong or there will be a point where we do have to go back to the draft for a few years for some high picks. The key is staggering the retirements so they don't stop all at once and having the players underneath them ready to come in and replace them (Hetherington replaces Shierlaw etc.).

We'll add two young players in the draft with whatever is left out of pick 36/42/49/51 and they'll get an education learning off gun players for a few years, so there's a chance they become good players from the environment.
I think we'll be in a better position to regenerate than we were after Scott/Noble if we are smart about it.

It's weird. Were they wishing the Lions and Crows the same fate after winning how many flags?
Seemed like the Dees and Dogs got universal goodwill because they "broke the drought".
I don't know if it's a fear from the 90's dominance or what it is, but it's truly bizarre compared to the treatment some other teams get in the media.

Kearney and Shierlaw are the only premiership players that are anywhere near retirement, and they're both legends of our club but they're not irreplaceable, as we saw from how well Kearney's absence was accounted for during the season. The core of the side has at least 5 or 6 more seasons together, and we have the luxury of being able to ship of theseus it with an extremely strong core. Garner and Riddell could probably play until their late 30s but even if they don't, it's an opportunity for King, Gatt, Tripodi, etc to step up, and gun midfielders from other teams will want to join them. We're well positioned to say the least.

I reckon its small club, something something small club.

It's just a tad weird. Like they're scared of us becoming a bigger club.

Yep whatever happens, ideally we don't have them leaving all at once and some might play 4-5 more years.
Hopefully we can have those underneath ready to take the leadership mantle.

There were a couple of elite collects by Amy during the finals series that had me gobsmacked. Especially, given that her skills had been questioned in the past.
