Why is the interleague game in Nar Nar Goon??? I thought it was the Ellinbank Competition not the Casey Cardinia Comp!!!

Without knowing who they are playing, il throw my common sense hat on and take an educated guess that NNG is the closest ground in the Ellinbank league to where the opposing league are traveling from....

That and the fact it's proberly the most spectator friendly ground in pretty good condition currently... Warrigul is great but has bad parking, Cora lyn is recovering, Garfeild also good but has no shelter. Goon seems the most obvious choice.

NNG is a logical choice but not sure about being spectator friendly, 2mm of rain and the car park turns to shit.

Garfield I think is the best surface in the league.

Find me a country footy ground in Victoria apart from the major towns where a car park is not gravel/dirt based or mud in winter...

Spectator friendly based on the fact is is easy to get to (2 secs off freeway) and has sufficient shelter for watching the game...

Poowong has good parking, never gets muddy!

As I said NNG is a logical choice. I just think its a terrible football ground, ground turns to mud too quickly. Most finals I have seen there the ground is shit.

You are correct with your reasoning for the selection of NNG. The EDFL are playing Central Highlands from up near Ballarat and the league claim that the VCFL overruled their selection of Western Park with NNG because of the closer location.

I'm not sure that 20 minutes further down the freeway would make much difference. Also the away change rooms are NNG are terrible and I've heard that the ground is very uneven this year, although I haven't seen it myself.

I'm not sure that parking would be an issue for an interleague game. There are only 2 footy matches and no netball as far as I'm aware. Western Park has hosted Prelims that would have many more people attending without major dramas. For mine Western Park or Garfield would have been better choices.

How does everyone think the Interleague is shaping up???
Are Ellinbank going to be a good side?? Any key players out or missing??
I don't think many of the CHFL people know what to expect up here as we haven't played interleague for over 15 years?
In terms of the CHFL's strength probably the three best players in the league in Andy McKay, Lee Cox and Michael Cummins are 'unavailable' however the CHFL are fairly confident they'll be putting out a pretty strong and even team.

Havent seen the squad but I think it should be a fairly strong team, most the side will come from about 6 teams in the league I would think. 15 team comp so plenty of players to pick from.

You blokes have 18 teams in the comp so thats a lot of players to pick from, why the hell isnt it a 2 division competition??

No need for two divisions. We were a 14 team comp until the Lexton Plains league folded at the end of 2010 and we took four of those sides in. There was talk of two divisions but the existing 14 clubs have all played together for a significant amount of time (12 were founding clubs back in 1979) and didn't want to break up the rivalries that existed. Plus there were a fair few of those clubs that didn't want to be shafted to a second division so they opted for a one-tier comp for a minimum two seasons before it is reviewed.
Since we've taken the new teams the league has gone from strength to strength, a few of the lesser and midtable clubs (my own included) have recieved a bit of a wake up call and the league has benefitted as a result.
Plus one division works well, 17 rounds, you play everyone once with a final 8 system which is fair as well.

Should have been at Lang Lang.

I heard Lang Lang was the EDFL's number 1 choice but then someone brought a pie and coffee and it cost them $15, and to top it off they rolled there ankle walking across the ground to get back to the car. Unlucky to say the least.

The last time I checked, Nar Nar Goon were still playing in the Ellinbank League. I don't see a problem with it at all. Good surface, well organised club, plenty of parking, close to the train line...come to think of it, probablt the perfect choice

The league big wigs asked Lang Lang if someone got the goal post straight, the inter league game would have been at the show grounds ,but they didn't want to blow the ground's budget on something not that important.

can some any one give me some info on james bradshaw from coralynn. what kind of player he is and what kind of bloke he is.
Nice guy, good club person and respect around the comp.Very fit and play's injury alot of the time (groins). Not a bad word about him from me.

Absolute legend. Good skipper, good player and even better bloke..

Only weakness is his inept ability to finish an alcoholic beverage! (Cant drink)

Are V line running a few extra trains for the 1000s of people that will come to the game. Lucky the station is so close!

More interesting results yesterday with Darnum having another win. If tumbleweed said Nyora is terrible cos we only beat them by 6 goals how bad are Buln going???

Dusties were decent yesterday but not as impressive as I expected from all the talk. Some good big forward and they could get found it, key backs struggled.

Buln have alot of young kids in there team with not much experiance, in saying that our boys were first to the footy most of the day and should've won by more. Dusties were missing there best backman in Matt Willis who makes a big differance when he plays.

You're right Leo, Buln must be woeful.

NNG will do a great job hosting the interleague game. I think the GF last year proved they know how to hold a big event and at the moment the ground is in good condition. This attitude that NNG aren't a part of the Ellinbank F.L is ridiculous and will only hold the competition back. The introduction of NNG, Cora Lynn, Lang Lang, Garfield etc over the past 10-15 years has only strengthened what before was a piss poor bush footy comp. Get over it ya muppets and move on!

On a different note, watched NNG on the weekend pretty closely and they are putting together quite a nice side. I know they didn't play a team of much note on the weekend but the way the moved the ball and their forward line functioned, they are going to be hard to stop come the pointy end of the season. Dore looks scarily good, in fact he looks a better player than he was a couple of years ago when he dominated the competition. With Williams, Hughes, Adams etc still to come back in and Zajak and Dore only just returning from 4 weeks of no footy, they're only going to get better.

The Dusties are a hard one to read due to their cruisy draw. I guess we'll find out a bit more about them when they hit some of the top sides, but if their backline is a worry then a side like NNG will exploit them with enough supply.

Cora Lynn are clearly travelling well and from what i've seen are the team to beat.

NNS and Garfield are down on last year and playing catch up for a top 2 position now so might find it difficult.

The rest are making up the numbers.

Dusties have a good midfield and are very strong around the ball with Charles, Brewster etc. Dangerous forward line too with a few good tall options. I think they rate their ruckman a bit too highly though and if he doesnt win the tap they are all forward of the ball. I think we would have broke even with them out of the middle but when they get it out they look better cos they are all running forward.

CL team to beat and the Goon looking the goods, NNS are struggling a bit. Will know more when Dusties play a few of the top sides.

You don't rate Bunyip? They are the wildcard for me. I dont know if they will finish top 2 with already dropping a couple early, but they will knock off a few contenders along the way and finish right up there.

NNS looked just as strong as last year when we played them- Do they have injuries or something I dont know?

Will not be judging Dusties untill they play all the top 5. They seem to have picked up a couple and are going well. Can't ignore their current form though.

Forgot about them to be honest! Haven't seen them this year, but looking at the results so far this year, they seem to be just going. They may have injuries or whatever i'm not sure. On last year, you'd think they'd be thereabouts but whether they have the class to match it with the others i'm not convinced.

The NNG boys tell me NNS were impressive in the 2nd half when they played them, but still lost and were close to full strength that day and NNG had a heap out. Hard one to work out actually as they beat you blokes, lost to NNG and Bunyip, Catani flogged them and only beat Ellinbank by 10 goals.

Division 3:
  1. North Central
  2. Loddon Valley
  3. Maryborough Castlemaine District
  4. Horsham District
  5. Ovens & King
  6. Picola District (North East)
  7. Central Highlands
  8. Ellinbank District
  9. Mid Gippsland
  10. Alberton
  11. Picola District (South West)
  12. Kyabram District
Just having a look at the interleague rankings, I believe the winners of each game move up in the rankings and the losers move down. As Alberton and Mid Gippy are in the game below EDFL we cannot possibly play them unless its a 1 v 2 game or a 11 v 12 game. Not sure if there is a better way to do it but seems a bit strange how its set up.

Anyone know the team for the EDFL interleague? Also the 3rds team? or where i may be able to find it?
