Leading goal kicker not good enough to get a gig?

Yeah i thought about Santo, but ill be convinced he can fit in the best side when he kicks goals against the top teams. In my opinion, he goes missing against the better structured backlines....I might be proven wrong in the next couple of months when the dusties start to play teams....

Kirkland, good player but misses too many goals for mine....

Team as per jumper number: Brent eastwell, Chris La Rosa, Eddie Morris, Ben Miller, Connor Cunningham, Callum Pattie, Kael Bergles, Brendan Kimber, Sean Lewis, Tom Johnson, Nathan Lieshout, Zac Vansittart, Harley Lacunes, Antonio Benvenuto, Daniel Zajac, Dean Kelly, Ned Marsh, Leigh Sheehan, Brenton Cowell, Mick Urie, Shane Brewster, Michael Santo, Brett Dore, Ben Dwyer, Tyson Morrow, Matthew Pierce

Geez i reakon Cowell must know someone on selection panel if he is getting a game.....joke!

Pattie started half back..

Thoughts on the game yesterday? thought we controlled most the game midfield played pretty well, forwards had no structure and the backs allowed easy goals... interesting to hear who everyone thought struggled maybe shouldnt of been in the team.....

I missed the game yesterday but have seen the bests named...

sheehan, brewster, kimber, morris, bergles
No surprises there i wouldnt think, except for morris. He must be some sort of a gun! Haven't seen him play yet, but from all reports, good skills, hard and can tackle. Is he not getting a game at Power? Or is it the fact he is only 16y.o and has 2 more years left with them? Great to see he played well at Senior Interleague level.

yeah the first 3 were clear best, morris didnt get a lot of it his just cool under pressure dosent rush, bergles kept spitting the dummy and looked a bit greedy...

... you obviously didn't see Dore openly crack it a number of times when he led and Kimber didn't pass to him. Happened a few times. Kimber being smart enough not to give him the pill as the pill didn't stick for the big fella in shocking conditions.

I would of thought Dore still would of been a better option than any of the others down forward....

happend a number of times but agree with punch probably should of gone to him when he only had 1 on 1 every other kick to him he had 2 or 3 go up against him! johnson take a mark all day?

Sounds like they went too tall, 1 goal betwee Dore, Santo and Lieshout as well as playing 2 ruckman. Maybe should have picked a side to suit the conditions.

Not sure how Cory Wilson from nyora wasnt picked, has been dominating all year and has kicked over 50 goals in a year as a forward. Would have been much better suited to the condiditons.

Who would Corey Wilson have replaced in the side Leo? Not seeing much of Nyora over the past few seasons, only 2 or 3 games, but guessing he is midfield rotate small forward. By looking at the team on the weekend, that role seemed to of been played by LaRosa (Dusties). By all reports, LaRosa really struggled, and in my opinion, was nowhere near the best team in EDFL. So i would of put Wilson definately ahead of him. But, I would also suggest other small forward/midfield types over Wilson. e.g Marchetti, Jack Allen, B.White (all CL), B.Howe (NNG), White (Bunyip), all of these plus probably a couple more I've missed can all go through the midfield and be damaging up forward....

I didnt see the game either but the side on paper didnt look as balanced as it could be. Not sure who I would have left out, maybe a ruckman??

Wilson is a very good midfielder and has kicked over 50 goals a couple of times, I think they needed more variety in the team.

Whoever has done the rankings has not seen the Ellinbank and District League for a while. I would have you guys higher than a few of the leagues above ranked above. I hope players have made themselves available from this league as the best from the EDFL will beat the North Central League.

If the EDFL can't beat a second-rate Central Highlands team I find it implausible that they could knock off the North Central League.

Good news down at Bunyip with B Heus back at the club from work commitments, will resume through the ressies this week but will be back in the ones in no time

My preseason prediction wasnt bad so far. Big few weeks coming up with dusties playing 3 sides in the 6. Bunyip finding some form it looks like and Garfiled coming good too. Still at this stage anyone in the top 6 could win it.

Bunyip
Dusties
Cora Lynn
Garfield
NNS
NNG

Lang Lang
KWR
Nyora
Catani

Ellinbank
Buln
Longwarry
Poowong
Nilma

Was great to see the Cora Lynn boys line up and clap off one our players after the game Matty Price who played 350th club game and 100th senior game on the weekend good work!
