what i dont get is that scott keeps saying you have players going good in the vfl but dosnt make any changes says he will after the game but then you see the ins and outs and only 1 or 2 changes. i missed the game so i cant comment on it but is scott still insisting on the handball heavy game plan ?

I'd like to see Robbie Tarrant, Ben Speight, Liam Anthony and Hansen get a crack. Part of it might be Brad backing the players to respond, but its time for changes now.

Do you guys think Malthouse might get lured to coach?

Be a pretty good decision imho.

they could but they would have to sack scott mid season and get a caretaker in because if scott is still there at the end of the year malthouse will probably feel like he is stabbing him in the back

Big argument against us getting him was the pricetag. It's not just MM, it's everyone around him.

Not a troll, could North afford the $1mil/year for MM AND all the staff he would bring in with him?

I have had this image as my screensaver

, feels like a long time ago now anyone have any suggestions for my new North Screensaver, should be interesting

Not at all, lots of kicking (when North had the ball). Maybe they're confused, I know I am.

I have seen it before our senior group have had so many 100 point drubbings they just take it in their stride. We will have to wait until they have all gone before we take the next step and although many of them have played many good games for the Club they will not be in our next Premiership tilt. My major worry is the next group coming through become rotten before they even start which may mean another rebuild.

Agree with all the other comments but this in particular.

Its not "knee-jerk" anymore, we are going backwards. And I am not interested in "5 year plans" and "developing youth" at all costs (ala Tigers who also improved when they got rid of the person who believed in that crap, and got a decent coach/staff) when it clearly isn't working.

Club needs changes.

Unfortunately or perhaps fortunately I only go to listen to about 1/2 of the game in between the kids sporting commitments.

When you get whacked by 100 + points you need to look at 2 things in particular

1) The on-field leadership group Swallow (C), Petrie and Ziebull (V.C), Wells and Harvey (D.V.C) how did they perform? Were they leading by example? What was there body language like? Were they talking? Did they put their bodies on the line? Did any of them try and start a fight? I know Swallow was down on form today and if anyone has a go at him I'll come out swinging but what about the others in the leadership group how did they go?

2) The coaches box. Who started on Buddy? Did they swap a few players around and try something to try and limit his influence? Did they double team him like they used to do to Carey. Did they fill the hole in front of Buddy?

Please don't tell me they left Petrie to catch a cold all alone in the forward 50m arch while all this was going on?

This isn't a troll either

I think the blame rests largely with the board for appointing an inexperienced senior coach. Brad Scott presents well - articulate, reasonably bright - and he knows how to play the corporate and media game. That's the problem here. Brisbane made the same mistake with its appointment of Voss. Senior coaches are appointed increasingly on the on the basis of their media savvy and ability to present well to (potential) sponsors, rather than on the basis of their track record and their skill to coach a senior AFL side

Scott says all the right things and knows how to present in a confident, polite and articulate manner. But as it turns out, he can't coach

Sorry guys. I know how bad it feels to go through a run of bad losses. I haven't forgotten the Peter Schwab era at my club.

All the best.

It's not a mistake, most of the clubs have gone with an experienced assistant coach who communicates well. Some turn out to be very good coaches, some don't. I'd be more confident if we had a stronger group of assistants in support.

Big losses always really hurt. But as an outsider I think today was a case of getting the Hawks on a day that they played to 100% of their capabilities and North had their worst game they will have this year.

I have seen north play good football this year, and last year aswell. You guys are a better side than what was on show today.

Do you think the team is exhausted? They looked it, chasing shadows.
Ever since the geelong and west coast games, pretty tough contested games, they have struggled. I think it could be fatigue as well.

Many at the start of the year had the Tigers and Roos fairly evenly poised. Look at what they have managed to do; beat the Saints in an intense match, flog the Hawks, spank the Swans, just lose by ~2 goals to WC, Essendon and Geelong but were ahead in every game.
Compared to the rubbish we have dished up so far, and against lesser opposition.
They are miles ahead.

We do travel alot it maybe be a factor they looked stuffed . Has the draw been killing us for 10 years though? We are down on confidence and our young midfield look gone, unfortunately especially against senior midfields.

The Tigers have cream and it is whipped cream , game breakers Riewoldt, Martin and Cotchin. In time we may get these players or some of our current youngsters will become cream, but not at the minute.

Number of years of AFL coaching experience by North assistant coaches before being employed by North:
Brad Scott - 2 years (Development coach and midfield coach)
Brett Allison - 9 years (Sydney development coach)
Darren Crocker - 4 years (Richmond Assistant coach)
Shane Watson - 0
Jason Lappin - 0
John Lamont - 0
Jon Haines - 0

Hi Everyone, rarely post here but read here just about everyday so i'm not just getting stuck in while we're down. But that was an absolute disgrace today, probably the worst loss in the club's history. Seriously. I believed in Brad until today, but we need to act NOW or become another Melbourne.

Well when you look at the players in the team, we have a lot of guys who are probably under 20 games, and aren't used to backing up games week after week (Atley - was good, Harper, MacMillan, Black, Garlett, Delaneys etc). And if the senior guys are as poor as they have been, the team is real bad, real quick.

We are too inexperienced. Too too much.
Hate to say it but coin is a factor guys.
Cant see it not being it.

I look around my house and see North Melbourne gear every wear, and I just want to take them down, go to my car and see 3 North Melbourne stickers at the back of my car, and I'm embarrassed of them, but the most annoying thing is that right at this very minute I'm looking at a sign I got from Glen Archer's 300 game, (some of you would have it too) and wondering, why can't every player that puts the F***ING JUMPER ON show the passion Glen did, every week he would put his body on the line, if we are down he would smash some one and get us going again or take a courages mark, he would Dive on the ball and not give a F*** who's coming the other way, I'm Disappointed in Brad as Coach, I'm not liking Swallow as Captain, After the bye they better SHOW SOME F***ING HEART.

Fact is about JB or Eugene, is we wouldn't be here without em. We would be known as the gold coast kangaroos if it weren't for these two. There hero's in my eyes

I ran for the Board in '07 to keep this club from being a footnote in history. I may have some issues with how James has organised his business but nothing of serious consequence, Eugene has been an outstanding assett to this club.

If we do not want to lose the momentum we have gained off field then James is going to have to ask his Board to take a long term perspective and make some tough decisions. Otherwise a lot of us are going to start asking the question ;why did we bother?' And let me tell you ladies and gentlemen of NMFC when people like Eugene Arocca start asking themselves the same question, we are going to be in serious doo doo

I have North Stickers on my car too The Gentleman . Not that I condone it but when we have a bad loss as my car is very nimble in those weeks I tend to be fast off the mark. In weeks we are good I tend to let everyone see who I follow :D

I 100% agree....those days seem long gone.

But then having Harvey as a leader will never get the team anywhere. Great player in his own right, but not a leader on the field, never has been.

As much as Dermie annoyed a lot of people today, he made one observation that was pretty telling.

There is no support amongst the team. LT and Bwowny were the kings of the bum pat and it's always been a bit of a running joke, but there just doesn't seem to be the unity there.
Everyone gets analysed on statistical measures on an iMac.

You can't measure mental aptitude and love for the jumper, and at the moment nobody seems to give a shit.

doesn't matter how many games,1-300+,at least they can show EFFORT,i have hardly seen any for the last 3-4 games,it does not require talent or skill or even superior fitness/endurance to at least give effort and intensity when wearing the jumper, this should be a non negotiable,i have never seen brad drag a player for repeatedly making the same mistake/error,or for squibbing a contest as dennis pagan would do,we now accept mediocrity and to day was a very very dark day in our proud history, and i dont believe in the politically correct theory that encouragement works better than discipline, sorry but i am a bit too old fashioned for that,
