Always loved both of these songs. I know many more Chisel songs compared to The Church's playlist so I won't compare bands like for like, but I've still ended up picking Star Hotel as my winner here.

It's been a favourite of mine ever since I was given the old 'Bali two albums on one tape' gift from a mate in the 80's. On a trip to Sydney from Melbourne by bus, I gave it a real workout in the Walkman over a three week trip.

This version really brings out the bass line and the raw energy of the track. The voices of Jimmy Barnes and Ian Moss blend like honey in the chorus, even with the barrage of tune in the background. The distinctive keyboard riff gives the song a third dimension, taking it up a notch from a standard two guitar and drum song of the day, to become a pub/beach/bar/bbq classic.

Jimmy's voice pitch is well out of my scale, so you'll only find me singing this either alone in the car, or after many a beer on a hot, hot day :)

That's a shitload of batteries! :D

I'll go on record as saying I love Cold Chisel. When I was living in Rowville, the Stamford Hotel had its 50th anniversary, Jimmy Barnes was belting out his and Cold Chisel's hits from a makeshift outdoor stage. I could see him from my drive-way and I had a permanent trouser tent!

I didn't even have to think about this.
Some Chisel songs are better than quite a few Church songs, but overall there aren't too many songs that are as good as 'Under the Milky Way'.

Wow

Two great songs selected - A good sample of Aussie music in the 80's.

Star Hotel is a great song in a live setting. And about a real lfe situation - Riots in Newcastle.

Under the Milky Way has an eerie atmosphere- Probably my favorite Church tune.
