Scott cant seem to get the players playing with the right intensity. For that he needs to be accountable.

But most people in this thread have no idea about the gameplan. Fact is our best players from last yer ( Wells, Goldy, Petrie, Boomer, Ziebs) are way down and it is killing us.

Scott is a smart man and a good coach but he needs to get our good players up.

Its interesting that we have arguably our best pre season and injuries arent an issue but these guys are to a certain extent struggling. When Goldy was asked to shoulder the load he stepped up, Petrie was effectively our forward line and Boomer sparked the side with his individual efforts. This year thats missing. Youve got to wonder if the perceived focus on the kids and lesser reliance on this core group is resulting in them taking a back seat? Cats maybe in a similar position.

If we can't beat Port, the season is done.

It's done now. We could knock off Port and Brisbane and whoop-de-do-da-day. We may sneak in the finals now - due to a soft draw - but take out the Geelong game and a game against a Colts team and, a third of the way into the year, we have sucked.

What has happened since last seasons exciting form.
To this seasons getting belted in every area bar Scotty Thompson.

The one key area that we get smashed at compared to other teams is clean ball from clearances.
Most of clearances are scrappy kicks forward.
It's a mess in there at the moment.

It is a chicken and egg scenario, but as I see it, the players are incapable of carrying out the gameplan as they did against Geelong.

We are missing targets, making dumb mistakes and not running hard enough.

You can probably stick a fork in it already, we have found a way to **** up the few things that were working for us last year and introduce totally new problems to deal with this year on top of not really addressing the old issues.

4 quarters of complete garbage today. To me it was Scott's worse loss since he's been at North. It should have been the start of 3 wins against winnable teams but it might just end up being the beginning of the end of our season if we can't win our next 2 games. The team looked lethargic from the 1st few min's and simply weren't switched on and ready to play. At the start of each qtr I was expecting a surge of urgency and hardness to eventuate, but nothing. No tactical changes during the 2nd half to get some sort of run-on happening. These are the things coaches get paid for ffs!!!!!!

Skill errors, turnovers, poor decision making..........have we actually improved in these areas this year???? We were awful today, giving a very average Bulldogs team cheap and easy goals. These are the sort of things players get paid for ffs!!!! Made hacks like Sherman, Vespremi, Gia, Dickson look good.

Of course it's ridiculous to be getting rid of a coach after 1 really bad loss like today BUT given the softest draw in the history of the AFL and having a full list to choose everyone will need to be looked at if we miss out on the top 8.

Next 2 weeks will be a test on how Scott can get his boys to start doing the business PROPERLY, the North way.

It is unbelievably frustrating seeing our strengths turn to shit and our weaknesses continue to get exploited.

Look not good today but you don't sack a coach after 1 really crap performance.Lets see where we finnish and then make a decision.

Oh well, we can always go back to crocker, he turned made the team player some really good games at the end of 2009.

Not really, you had players playing for their career and from memory we lost almost every game he coached. There is always a honeymoon period after a coach falls on his sword because his players have given up.

I don't think this is the end of Scott, and don't think he needs to go either. He just needs to show he is able to identify problems and fix them and show he can learn from his mistakes. If he is not able to do those things or is so bent on his course of action then that is the kind of failure which leads to the demise of a coach.

A lot of good coaches were on the cusp of being shown the door. I think it is difficult to change the direction the game is played or be a leader in terms of what is successful footy and not be a knife's edge away from disaster. A lot of current coaches re just copying what has worked in the past but usually by the time you master it the plan is already obsolete.

Question is if he has what it takes to be a good coach or not, to date we haven't seen the elements that make a good matchday or good development coach.

Nope. He's part of this.
Shit yeah. He's our midfield coach and right now our midfield is our biggest weakness IMO. All things considered our backline has fought on quite well.

Our forward line too has been OK considering Petrie's season and Edwards' month.

Does anyone else find the handball game plan painful?

It took all of 3 weeks for teams to see what we were doing and countered it effectively.

Think it was a poor call to upgrade Swallow to captain so quickly. Think he is a very impressive young man and can play good footy but was an ameature call. Hope I am wrong because I like him but did we really need to replace Harvs one year early?

I agree. We have such fantastic potential in the coming years it would be criminal for it to be wasted on stupid game plans !

Who should have been captain then? Brent "can't shake a tag" Harvey? Drew "playing the decoy role" Petrie, or Jack "not Christ incarnate afterall" Ziebell?

Swallow is the standout. No freaking brainer.

Harvey has been an outstanding footy player for our club and I don't think they should have replaced him yet. Added pressure of being a captain isn't needed when players are developing. Maybe I'm wrong I would just rather him focusing on his disposal effciency!

I am not a troll! I love this bloody football club and because someone has a different point of view doesn't make them a troll.

You're not really making a dint.

Sorry if I'm sceptical of somebody who appears out of nowhere, posts nothing but negativity and nothing else.

Tell us oh great sage, how has Swallow been a poor leader so far?

This should be good.

Sorry I normally post in the Fourth Estate as I love TV.

I don't think he has been a bad leader. I just didn't think it was necessary to strip Harvey for 1 year. Let the kid grow. Nothing against him at all. As I said a very impressive young man

Yeah, good post, but you didn't really answer the question.

How have we lost with Swallow as a leader?

A lot of you guys came over and rubbed it in when you's beat us in the NAB cup, so I'm gonna jump over and say go Dogs!

Only friendly of course, but when are you guys gonna realize that your mob just isn't that good. You've been riding on the coat tails of the win against the Cats, and today really stank of complacency. No doubt North went in thinking it was an easy win. I've noticed a couple of guys having digs at Richmond, well I've got news for you, Richmond have by passed you, and now North is the new Richmond! :thumbsu:
