Bit surprised there hasn't been a thread yet.

What an amazing footballer
She has just won her second MVP
https://womens.afl/news/17658/superstar-crow-clinches-second-mvp-award

She has two Grand Final BOG Awards.

She is unanimously the best woman to have played the game.

I have never seen anything like it when she went down during the GF. Ever player, everyone in the crowd, everyone watching on TV knew the best player in the league had just done her knee and from that moment the match might as well have been over. The tone after than was amazing. Thankfully she had already done a massive amount to ensure the Crows were home, but cripes, has there ever been a moment like that where even those who she was absolutely destroying ran to wish her the best as she went off.

Thank god the AFL didn't arse around and think oh we need to wait a few more years and build up the juniors first before going full natIonal comp, because we could have missed out on seeing her play.

Just imagine if this comp had been around 15 years ago, though.

She would be retiring on a par with any who have played the sport in this state. I'm talking "name a grandstand after her" level.

A beautiful kick, great vision, tackles like a beast, mark like she was born to.

Am so, so, so glad she plays for the Crows.

And here's hoping we see her in the guernsey again. Heck play full forward, and kick 3 a game.

The stat that has been doing the rounds her and on twitter just deserves repeating:

Astonishing how far above the field she is. Bradman-like

So glad that someone started this thread. If a man dominated the AFL like Erin dominates the AFLW everyone would have started their own thread. Andrew McLoud 2 B&F in grand finals Erin has 2 as well. 2 MVP's and one "Brownlow" with a possible second one coming tomorrow night. And that ovation she received....I have never seen an ovation like it.

Hopefully Erin will have the AFLW "Brownlow" named after her. This would piss of the Vics but its about tme the Non Vic states get some national recognition.

I remember seeing her in one of the first slowdowns at Adelaide Oval (prior to the development). She could seriously play back then as a teenager.

Her legacy will be more than just being known as the best player in the competition. She's set the standard for her team mates, her opponents and for all the potential AFLW players out there.

(on a side note, I feel bad for Scheer, whose ACL injury seems have gone unnoticed in comparison)

I appreciate Erin Phillips. A lot.

I’ve never seen the atmosphere just evaporate like that at a footy game. It was almost instantaneous. Everyone knew as soon as she collapsed, and it sucked the life out of it.

To be so universally respected that opposition players are commiserating with you as you’re stretchered off the field...

I hope she makes it back.

Was bad when Chloe went down, as she's been fantastic for us this season; natural footballer. Plus, she had missed the previous season with an ACL. Felt terrible for her. Then, Phillips went down and there was silence. She's miles ahead of the next best player in the competition and we all know how well the Crows did while she struggled with injury last season. Devastating for her. The team won't be the same without her.

She's won almost every award (all the important ones anyway); premierships, GF bogs, MVPs, Best and Fairest(s), club best and fairests. Pretty sure she's leading the league's goal kicking tally with 28.

Fantastic athlete and person from what you see from afar. Happy we got a team and not Port, so she can be a part of our history forever. She is a massive reason why AFLW is what it is. Will we see her inducted into the Hall of Fame as the first female player?

The title of this thread says it all - Erin is universally loved. Personally, I loved watching her from round 1, season 1. Her talents weren’t just elite back then, but was so obviously far in advance than other players it just wasn’t even funny! Despite coming back from a lengthy quad injury last year, and no footy during her offseason, she’s still obviously the best AFLW player!

What needs to be mentioned is that her leadership has been exemplary. She leads by her footy actions but the players seem to love and respond when she does the good stuff. It is no coincidence when Erin is fit and firing, the team has won premierships (seasons 1+3). With her hardly playing with the quad injury in season 2, we looked second rate as a team.

Hope Erin can come back to playing. I honestly can see her play up until the age of 40! Even if her body slows down, she still has the strength, skills and smarts to play at full forward!

Erin is a star. She should win the player of the year award tomorrow night as well. What an absolute ornament of the game. I just pray it's not the last we've seen of her.

I watched the replay after being at the game, and on TV you can just barely hear the chant of "Erin, Erin, Erin" when she is on the stage about to give her speech after being named best on ground. In the stands, it was just about deafening. Spontaneous and unified, you can't manufacture that kind of passion, and you could see how much it meant to her. I have no idea how she managed to compose herself to give a quality speech.

One of my strongest memories of the match was the crowd suddenly starting to swell and cheer late in the fourth quarter. I wasn't sure why until I realised it was Erin returning to the ground on crutches. I remember thinking, well, at least she probably won't win BOG this time around so she won't have to work out how to get on and off the stage twice!

I'm a big fan of womens basketball, and she's one of the best aussie girls i've seen come through.

haven't seen her play much footy other than the slowdowns and she looked good.

*You guys know she was a great basketballer right?

I was at that game when she was probably 15ish iirc. I remember thinking she was was the only one on the ground taking it seriously and surprisingly old fat guys were having trouble catching her.
