I haven't seen all of them yet but Once Brothers stands out to me by a long way so far. That is not to disrespect any of the others either. I just think it is magnificent.

Into the Wind , The Best that Never Was, Once Brothers, Jordan Rides the Bus, No Crossover, Catching Hell

That's probably how I'd rank my favorites of the 30 for 30s. Still yet to see some of the newer ones.

Just watched Roll Tide/War Eagle doco on the Alabama/Auburn rivallry.

Damn rednecks are crazy haha.

Thats the best thing about 30 for 30 in my opinion, I have no interest in College football but still loved that Doco

My faves have been 'Once Brothers,' Winning Time,' and 'Catching Hell.'

Just watched Without Bias. Very upsetting. One bad mistake, bang, gone. The fact his brother was shot and killed a couple of years later...nearly had me in tears.

Looked like he could have been anything. That leap!!

I watched Without Bias recently as well. Although I don't think it is as well made as the current 30/30's the story still impacts and interests me to this day.

I first heard about Len Bias in a Sports Illustrated article in the late 90s. The article was about the cursed 1986 NBA Draft. It is astonishing the amount of busts in this draft (most of them, related to alcohol/drug abuse, crime, misfortune). It is staggering. I couldn't find the exact article in their online archives but found a follow up article done in 2006.

yeah, he was so excited about just being drafted as well. So unfortunate. The two escobars was sad as well. Theres never really been a sport obsession like there has been with soccer fans...but I still cant really find it appealing:D

The Len Bias one would take on a whole new meaning to people who have enjoyed that epiosde if they were aware of the next set of events it seemed to set rolling for the Celtics themselves.

It adds to the story knowing that a few years later Reggie Lewis a much loved Captain of the club would drop dead on the training court of a heart issue as well.

In a strange twist of fate, he too was from Maryland.

The Len Bias death really did seemto set of a series of bad luck stories for the Celts for many years to come.

"Catching Hell" - for someone that hates watching baseball like me - was amazingly good. How on Earth an American documentary managed to hold an AFL devotee's attention for over two hours still amazes me! The energy and passion in that documentary is simply brilliant.

"Straight Outta LA" is in the same vein - incredible and fascinating. Could you imagine Dockers colours being outlawed at state high schools? hehe

The drama cultivated in the Gretzky doco is really good also.

Was disappointed by the "Band that wouldn't die" - I wish they focused more on the actual move of the Baltimore Colts to Indianapolis rather than their band.

.

lol im sure that would upset a lot of school girls.:D

Just on the topic of sports docos, has anyone watched the 24/7: Road to the Winter Classic series that HBO does?

It is typical HBO quality. The insight you get into the lives of players and a professional organisation is amazing. Just finished the Rangers/Flyers season, which aired last week. Only 4 episodes per season.

I love ice hockey but I can guarantee that if you don't love the sport, this documentary will draw you in. I just wish Australian TV had the ability to produce such a quality program.

Watched June 17 1994. Amazing that all that happened in the one day with OJ, start of the World Cup, Arnold Palmer, NBA Finals and the NHL win. Crazy.

I liked the way it was shot, as if you were watching the TV and changing the channels.

Why?

The band was the interesting part of the story. It put a human side to the business of football.

This series is about people, not business decisions.

Watched Straight Outta L.A. Certainly wouldnt have that close to the best one of the ones ive seen so far. Was interesting, but I figure that people think this ones the best because its got Snoop and Ice Cube in it as opposed to it being anything stand out.

Kings Ransom was awesome. Its hard to fathom being an AFL supporter what would happen if you knowingly sought to trade out the best player in the league - arguably best player of all time at that point - even when he didnt really want to go. Lucky for Edmonton they still won another pennant. This story was really well told.

Just finished Catching Hell as well. Poor bloke. Singled out for the rest of his life over someone that everyone does when given the chance. He must have been shitting himself as he sat there with others coming up to him and beer getting thrown on him. Pretty sad really.

It's full of it.

Regular black people aren't into that culture.

That's why there's no album called "Straight Outta Conneticut".
You are funny. A small part of the Raiders.

The Raiders have a huge "Well to do" Filipino following across the states. Also a lot of peeps from NY.

Stereotypical nonsense.
