Ever left a game early and regretted it?

Last night required a bit of negotiation with an unhappy and anxious 12 year old to stay.

Agreement struck that we would leave as soon as the siren sounded.

After the win I asked if he was happy he stayed. All I got was “I feel a bit better.”.
And look at the bargaining chip you’ve gained for the rest of his life for all future negotiations!

My best mate growing up is a Freo die hard but his family never really got into footy. For his birthday one year they went to a Freo game, in a box and all. With Freo down by a little bit with 5 minutes to go his old man tells them all to get moving so he can beat the traffic. My mate protested but to no avail. Reckons they were literally the only people leaving, a point his old man seemed pretty chuffed with himself about.
As they are walking back to the car they hear a massive cheer and then the final siren, followed by a strange lull. Eventually as he gets back to the car he hears a massive roar. Quenton Leach had just kicked a goal after the siren to steal the win. First time it had happened in Freo history. My mate was not happy with his old man for a long time after that 😂

Cats vs Dees in 1993 at the MCG was one . Probably others but this one I remember. I was a big Ablett Snr fan and use to go watch him as much as I did the cats and he had kicked 9.0 but cats were going to lose so I left. I missed Gaz kicking 2 more to finish with 11.0 for the day in a loss. This followed his earlier 14.7 in a loss against the dons. I was a bit peeved I didn’t watch Gaz get his 10th and also 11th for the game! But 9 was good!

No. Have walked out once at 3qtr time when we were being smashed. We were glorified witches hats.

Now 2 guys who go with us left early the night Grundy kicked a late goal to win the game against Richmond. They walked out when we were 3 goals down.

My mate a Melbourne supporter walked out of the Carlton game late last year when the Blues went 2 goals up late. Was walking through the car park when Melbourne hit the front.

I was in Sydney a few weeks ago and stayed with the Eagles vs Sydney til the bitter end. I'm not really an early leaver, the only time I've ever done it was the 2015 Grand Final.

I tell people now that I could've left that game a minute into the 2nd quarter. I think it only put the Hawks about 4 goals in front, but given the sitters the Eagles were missing from everywhere, Hodge nailing one from the 3rd row with the first I50 of the quarter made it abundantly clear that the Eagles weren't getting close that day.

You’d think this thread would be teeming with Carlton supporters! Surely the amount those campaigners pack up and leave it would’ve happened a few times.
Round 23 last year quite a few were leaving when Elliott kicked the goal to cut Carlton's lead to 11 points. I guess they could foresee what was about to happen and couldn't bare to watch it.

Went to Richmond v GC last year at Carrara. Had a mate who is a saints fan who was driving and he wanted to leave at three quarter time, I wanted to wait until Richmond kicked one more goal but he really wanted to watch the saints game...
