Martinez confirmed as Everton boss according to the Fail.

Press conference in 1.5hours expected to confirm it. Not completely sold on him but will back him to hear what he has to say. Big press conference needed to out-do "the people's club" :p

Something along the lines of him being delighted to take over the best team in Liverpool will do :p

Mixed feelings.

Would have preferred Pereira but I think Martinez was always who Everton wanted from the get-go.

Since he is our gaffer now, I'm behind him 100%.

Think you'll see a change in style at the club which you will all be happy about.

But ultimately it's about the results, and I think like everyone else Martinez will be doing well to have Everton achieving as much as they did under Moyes. Unless of course a few more funds become available.

Roberto says he can get us into the Champions League.

Excellent presser, even Bill came over well. I wish the season started tomorrow.
At least the wait isn't as long as the AFL off-season.

Very strong press conference from Martinez. The way he talks makes you walk and extra 2ft taller.
Exciting times for the season. Can't wait to see what he delivers.

Wouldn't mind picking up McManaman from Wigan, if we can steal one or two of their players.
I'm not sold on him to be honest, has only preformed really good in a handful of games but he's still young so I would be happy if we signed him but only if its for less than 2m, Roberto will know better than anyone if he's up to it or not.

James McCarthy is a very good player, young yet has plenty of Premier League experience my only problem with him is that he plays a very similar style as Gibson. like McManaman I'd be happy to sign him at the right price, I'd hate us to blow our whole transfer budget on him.

Antolín Alcaraz is the other one who I think Roberto will look out. I've heard several Wigan supporters say if he wasn't injured for so much of the season they would have stayed up, he's coming out of contract at the end of the month. With Heitinga looking set to go I would be happy to bring him in with him coming in as a cover, not as a replacement for Distin because we still to sign a replacement centerback.

Other than that I hope we stay away from the rest of their squad unless they've got some boss youngster coming through that none of us have heard of but Martinez rates. Kone is a pretty good player but he's got a 6.5m buyout clause which is just to much especially when you consider he's 30. Maloney is another pretty good player but like Kone he's a bit older now and there's just no need for him.

There's defiantly a few players who we could realistically sign and do a job but some people I've seen are worried he's gonna bring over half his squad but that defiantly won't be the case, the way he was talking yesterday in the press confrence he didn't he didn't sound like he's gonna bring any many if any Wigan players across.

I think if Heitinga left and we brought in Alcaraz then Martinez might feel we are ok for central defenders. With Jagielka, Distin and Duffy there as well.

Certainly if we were to bring players in from Wigan it will only be the 1 or 2, nothing more.

So I guess we will be looking to bring in a backup goalkeeper as well. Hitz did not get much of a chance but I guess was always only going to be a small spell at the club.

Moloney seemed to be one of Martinez's favourites. Wouldn't surprise me if he tried to bring him to Goodison.

I hope we sell Heitinga, and then bring in either Lescott for cheap or spend a little more money and sign a younger promising centre half who can come in and fade out Distin, loan Duffy out to a championship club and then sign Alcaraz.

Hitz was good when called apon and I thank him for his contribution to the club, same with Mucha. I don't think we need to bring in a new cover for Hitz because you'd think we would sign a new midfielder this window so we shouldn't need that extra back up.

I would of been happy for Mucha to stay, I thought he was a good second keeper just hope we can sign someone who will provide competition for Horward and be good enough to cover for him if needed, would love us to get a young keeper who can back up for Howard for the next season or two and then be ready to replace him in two seasons, Butland would have been perfect but seeing as their is few young cheap quality keepers out there hopefully we can get someone on a free, what's Graig Gordon up to these days?

Given our history of spending we may look at some of the released players from other clubs.

If we lost Heitinga I would not be against Upson coming in on a free.
Given our striker issues what about Santa Cruz or Carlton Cole....
Moyes was always keen on Bentley on loan in the past but obviously never happened.

Not a lot to really get excited about but I think we will have a look at the options.

Looks like we could go after Victor Moses from Chelsea.

All rumors of course but wouldn't be against it, if we signed him.
