Barcelona are the textbook example of of the flaws trying to build a team by chasing big money signings and disregarding how the hell you actually fit them into the side.

They have 2x100m+ euro signings coming off the bench, and another loaned out to a team who just beat them by 6 goals.

All because they went after big names and price tags instead of looking for guys who fit around existing stars or fill obvious holes (ie like Liverpool or Bayern)
