can someone post the story without the paywall?
cheers.
Here's some of it...
Triple premiership Hawthorn star Brian Lake has been arrested after a scuffle while in Japan at an AFL tournament.
Lake remains in an Osaka jail after the altercation and in a worst-case scenario could be charged or held for 23 days without charge.
The former player for the Western Bulldogs and Hawthorn had an altercation in a bar while celebrating a win in the Asian tournament with the Indonesian Volcanoes.
Members of the Volcanoes team, including former AFL player Rick Olarenshaw, are working to get him out of jail.
They believe the Norm Smith Medallist was simply a part of the scuffle and was arrested to cool down after a big night of celebration.
Yet it will be a publicity nightmare for Channel Ten, with Lake having just spent two months in Fiji as part of their much-publicised Australian Survivor reality TV show.
Lake, 36, is participating in that show along with rugby star Mat Rogers, former special forces commando Damien Thomlinson, AFLW player Mo Hope and Olympian Shane Gould.
Lake posted on instagram a photo of him playing in that tournament, with the caption: “Playing for the volcanos in Osaka! What random stuff you get up too when the wife gives you the ass.”
The Department of Foreign Affairs told the Herald Sun today it was working to help an Australian who had been arrested in Japan.
“The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is making inquiries about an Australian in Japan who may require consular assistance and stands ready to provide assistance, in accordance with the Consular Services Charter, should it be requested. Owing to our privacy obligations we will not provide further comment.”
Sources close to Lake believe that while Lake was involved in push and shove he did not throw a punch at anyone.
Lake had finished his part-time work with Fox Footy’s Sunday night Show The Bounce to take part in Channel Ten’s reality TV program.
It is understood he and his wife Shannon, who plays women’s football for Caroline Springs, have lived apart for several months.

Norm Smith came from my club
The Norm Smith Medal was first awarded in 1979. No Melbourne player has won it.

Please, keep digging.

Three time premierships, twice AA, and a norm smith medalist. Lake may be a fruit-loop but he was a gun.
