I have noticed a lot of Angus bashing whenever there is any bad news of any kind. It seems he is the fall guy for everything, but Voss, Kerr, Warren and Lynch have had a much bigger influence on player retention than any of the board members.

Hmm.. I smell an Angus around, better get my bashing gear on..

I have no doubt that there will be some posts linking Angus and the prospective exodus. I suspect those drawing a direct link are very much in the minority though, and are being seized upon as you in either your continued voice of reason/contrariness/Angus role. However feel free to provide examples of these Angus bashings based off player retention failures, so we can discuss them on their merits if there's "a lot".

How many people do you have on your ignore list?

I asked for enlightenment in my previous post so I'll repeat it. General board instability, sure I've seen that, but directly at Angus's feet?

I'm not inclined to go through this thread again. If you haven't seen it, then you are free to treat my post as irrelevant.

Is there where I despair for the attention span of youth, given the amount of back-searching I do in threads to provide referenced posts? :p

That's commendable, but I'll have to pass. I'm surprised anyone actually questioned it - I thought the reaction to my post would be to try and justify the attacks on Johnson (eg. Skoob's post). From my observations there has been a bit of an increased focus on Manny Lynch recently, one or two posts questioning Warren, but Voss and Kerr have got off pretty much scott free. I'm not wanting to advocate lining people at the club up, but the anger seems a bit misdirected imo.

I for one aggressively questioned Kerr only for many to defer to his accountability to others.

Personally, the whole 'in Kerr we trust' rhetoric in recent years has been nothing short but sickening and outside of one or two picks; I reckon he has been a complete failure. IMO, it was obvious Polec and Karnezis were never going to make it at the Lions and again IMO, the recruitment of Longer was strange and wrong.

Geez you get melodramatic Dyl. "Sickening"... really? Are you saying the fact people basically say "we just have to have faith that Kerr gets it right" actually makes you sick?

Save some superlatives for when shit really hits the fan.

I know Kerr is the spokesperon for our recruitment team, but isn't his primary function negotiating contracts and trades? Isn't Stephen Conole our head recruiter (succeeding Hadley)?

Definitely some hits and misses there but nothing like whoever the W.A. flog who was recruiting spuds like Spaanderman earlier in the decade.

I reckon he has been a complete failure. IMO

3 months ago you made a post saying that Rob Kerr "hasn't been bad by any stretch of the imagination". Now three months on you call him a complete failure. That is a pretty rapid change of opinion.

Goes without saying. You think everyone is shit.

Lets just appoint a coach, if this kids want to stay after that great but if they still want to go lets just do a decent deal and be down with it. Cut our losses and move on.

I don't care what you say.....just post more......your avatar is smoken

That argument suggests that the board were right to end Voss' tenure.
Not at all. You can't hire someone to dig a hole and not give them a shovel then sack them for digging slowly.
I would suggest Voss would shoulder some responsibility but if as you suggest the whole of the staff did a poor job, you can't sack them all and keep the boss. As chairman, one must take the lions share of the blame. (see what I did there?)
I for one haven't directly blamed Angus for any 'exodus' but I do believe it is symptomatic of how the club is being run and that any slackness or negligence of duties is born from the top.

So you were fishing for an argument?

Pretty good form from Sam Mayes today after the Ressies game hanging around .. chatting to people. I don't think we'll be talking about him much in this thread.
I would have said the same thing about Yeo,but here we are.We have to make sure we extend Mayes contract early, otherwise we could be ****ed all over again.

Did he hang out at Ressies games to chat to folks? I never saw it. He's pretty sneaky tho.

I'd like to be able to quote what you just said down the line with respect to the player we get from any Yeo trade. It might be win-win!

It might be,but I'm not gonna get my hopes up. We may get sonething ok in return for some departing players, but I won't bet my life on it,we have bugger all cards to play

Absolutely gutted about Yeo. My brother is good friends with Corey Gault, who plays for Collingwood and played junior footy with Yeo. He always said that Yeo was the type of person to get homesick. I could never see it happening but it obviously has. I hope we do retain him, but I cannot see it happening. I am happy these players are leaving now as they clearly don't possess a passion for the club and wont play with no effort for the Lions.

******* pissed about Yeo.
