Bunbury should get the WA team. Dunno what to call them. "Breakers" could be a good one as it would be a synonym for wave or surf, but having "ers" at the end sounds too American IMO.

Edit: **** sake I just realised the team I go for has "ers" at the end. Unsure if I should delete to save the embarrassment, or embrace the irony.

From a purely design perspective, while I like the name Surf, having another presumably blue team based in the west isn't a great idea, with WC using both royal and navy, and Freo using a shade not too far away in purple. Should be something contrasting like red or green or whatever, don't go down the path that nsw did and end up with rival clubs in red and orange.

:D leave it for the whole world to see! Another location I was thinking about is Albany in WA but I'm not too sure how committed the town is to Aussie Rules. Something like the Albany Wombats or something idk

Yeah that was something I thought about whilst making it. Maybe a blue green and white color scheme could get past this clash because having green water in your logo isn't saying the greatest of things about the water quality at that location :D

New team in WA? It'd have to be a Greater Northern Suburbs team wouldn't it?

Playing out of an expanded Arena Joondalup?

You'd think it would have to be either Joondalup or Mandurah with a third team, but I can see either team still using the new Perth Stadium as their home ground.

Nowhere else in WA really has the population/background to really support a new AFL club outside of the metro area, even Bunbury or Geraldton, that would be financially viable.

Unless they consider a "Greater Swan Districts" - Bayswater/Morley in the south west through Bazzo and Midland, north-west through Middle Swan,West Swan and Upper Swan up to Ellenbrook?

Does the area North of Perth have much of a regional identity? I barely venture that far. The South, as in Margaret River, Denmark, Bunbury, Albany, Augusta etc. seem a bit more of a cohesive in their industry, lifestyle and geography etc. Being more isolated from the Metropolitan area, too, I think, would contribute to the viability of a team there.

I'd feel an obligation to support such a team, being from the Peel region, but my sentimentality would stop me.

I am starting to notice one up there now actually. There's now a group of satellite suburbs around Joondalup with their own hubs and shopping centres, I've noticed that a lot of folk now treat Joondalup as "going to town" in some way, so I think it will certainly develop into even more of an identity soon.

Yeah Joondalup as an area has grown exponentially. The council is pretty gung-ho when it comes to their footy too

Interesting, guys. I've occasionally seen stuff on Ch7 about Joondalup expanding but other than that been pretty isolated/ignorant from/of the news.
Given Ned's point, it seems that that area would be more viable for a third team. I think I'd rather a Tasmanian team if given the choice though.
