Preview FaceOff

FaceOff 2012

Some of you may remember what FaceOff is - every round, an AFC poster who finds him or herself highly amusing does a little writeup on the coming game, with whatever bits of preview they think are needed, before posting it both here, and in the preview thread found on opposition boards, no later than the Tuesday before the game, or Wednesday for a Sunday game.

Unfortunately, during a pandemic of apathy that struck last year for reasons that still escape science, FaceOff fell by the wayside as a number of people who had volunteered - none of whom were me at any time - failed to post for the games they volunteered to do.

Hopefully the apathy has blown away, and we can stay the course a little better this season. So, anyone who wants to do a FaceOff or two, stick your hand up and I'll record them all out here:

There was once a style guide, but I recall it being broken or vanished before last season, and I've no idea where to find it. Instead, we'll try something sideways - FREESTYLE IT YO. Be creative, but above all be mostly legible. Unless anyone wants it (speak up if you do), I shall start us off, and be an example of how to be awesome.

The troll in me would really like to write one for the St.Kilda game, but I'm guessing regular moderation would apply to these threads.

Happily take the Bulldogs game in round 2 while optimism is either at an all time high or an all time low.

The troll in me would really like to write one for the St.Kilda game, but I'm guessing regular moderation would apply to these threads.

The original purpose of these threads was to have some serious discussion, previewing the game. Posters from both sides were warned that these were troll-free threads and that trolling from either side would result in an instant red-card (and a week off).

That purpose seems to have fallen by the wayside, with the rise of the comedians. There's been less & less serious discussion and more and more Taylor Walker/supermodel pictures used.

That said, these are supposed to be bilateral threads, replicated on both our board and that of the competing team. Having trollish comments in the OP might not go down too well in those circumstances.

1. No one wanted to write them
