The poster in here throwing around "strawman" accusations:

Mmmnope, that's an argument you made up.

The extra 2 teams were supposed to create more opportunities for local players, and that's what has happened.

Owen's is not a grade cricketer. He isn't who wasn't being referred to. So the argument is moot, and you don't know what a "strawman" is based on what you've posted here.

Well let's be clear: "The numbers for the extra 2 teams were supposed to be filled by internationals" is something you made up.

Given you can't support that claim with a quote from anybody at CA, we know what kind of argument you were trying to craft.

No one claimed that Owen was one of those players champ. He's been playing for the Hurricanes all season, and he's a regular for the Tigers.

It's worth reading the entire discussion, not just replying to a section that makes you look like a pillock.

The general vibe he's referring to is pretty apparent though.

Exactly, it’s the lack of quality or star power. Who is going to go see Cooper Connolly and Adam Milne?

This must be easier said than done otherwise it would be fixed by now. Is the issue that both of those grounds are football grounds or is that a coincidence?
They are all "football" grounds and many with drop ins. A coincidence.

So we just get to ignore people's actual words and assume their meaning now? What sort of bullshit discussion is that?

Going to be interesting to see when the final is next year. Will they prove this year’s reasoning was bullshit and go head to head with the tennis, or play on Australia Day?

Play it on the Saturday night to go up against the womens final?

Not sure if that gets the same ratings as the men's, especially with not having an Australian women likely to be contending

It’s what they’d probably do even if Saturday night would be the least profitable option

Think the current length of season is about right. Priorities need to be made regarding getting Australian players playing, that's how you improve the comp not worrying about the mercenaries heading off to the UAE.

they could easily add more games, if they were willing to play more doubleheaders on weekends.

10 games per team is too few for my liking because you can potentially play the 3 shittest teams twice, beat them twice which gives you 6 wins and a finals spot. I'd like 12 games per team plus finals, which would be 52 games but the tournament would need to be completed in 42 days.

Mercenaries heading off to the UAE should not result in CA changing the tournament to suit them. Even if Laurie Evans got his way and the tournament was shortened, he'd still head off to the UAE. As long as Australian players stay for the entirety of their team's involvement in the BBL, I'm happy.

if the players are ok with it, I'd like to see the final on Australia Day every year.
