GOAT captain, one of only 10 AFL era players with 4 or more flags, certified hall of famer, holder of many records. Not only does he deserve a mainboard thread but he deserves a statue in the middle of the MCG
I hope he breeds as much as Ricciuto

lol nothing in the argument has changed. he drops his knees and falls to ground all the time.

saying he's just 'lowering his centre of gravity" is not a legitimate critique.

going to ground is a terrible way to break a tackle. You can lower you centre of gravity without falling over, but Joel doesn't do that, he takes the cheap way out.
Cheap way out? Nothing about the way he's played has ever been cheap you ignorant muppet. Take the deluded, salty criticism to a thread that's not a toast to his retirement.

GOAT captain of Geelong maybe. But he can’t be ahead of multiple premiership captains with only the 1.

Welcome back bud. I've missed your well-informed and highly educated opinions. Bigfooty was lesser for your lengthy disappearance.

Undeniably the GOAT captain of Geelong and your lifetime! Can't disagree.

Selwood stands with Hodge and Voss as the top 3 of the AFL era, all of them head and shoulders above the rest

The disrespect of Cotchin is unreal. Triple premiership captain, Brownlow and AFLCA winner isn’t even close to Selwood apparently.

He was a solid battler.

Ollie Wines is forging a similar career playing wise, just not at a club good enough to win flags.

If rated on captaincy terms, maybe similar impact to Harley at Geelong.

Look I’m not trying to pick a fight but Cotchin turned our club around from a laughing stock to a dynasty and Dusty around from being a trouble maker to the best player in the league at the time.

As great as Selwood is he’s never done that. His captaincy was straight off a dynasty and his first 3 flags he was in that dynasty. You can argue Selwood is a better captain or whatever (I don’t) but I think it’s a bit silly to say it’s daylight between them.

Nice post, but it needs more white space between sentences, and a few more commas.

Use <Return>, add some punctuation, and keep up the good work 👍

It’s daylight

Geelong board, doesn't need to be here
Yeah that’s crap.

This guy is as hard at it as all the famous hardnuts in history.

He’s in the Leigh Mathews territory for absolute commitment to crashing through walls of attackers and delivering sublime performances.

Courageous, quick as lightning with hands and a beautiful drop punt action.

His consistency is what makes him great.

In my mind, there’s JS, Bartel, Scarlet, Bairstow and lil Gaz who are way above the many many fantastically gifted players at GFC in the modern era.

Just all round skills of perfection and grit

Gary Jnrs brother could’ve been the best of them all. But that’s another story.

Joel ****ing Selwood will remembered forever as one of all time greats of GFC
