Re: Farrer League

All the best tomoz chewy, do not think i will surface before you run out onto the pitch. carn the mighty hawks:)
Cheers buddy - should be a big day in the Rat town tomorrow, blokes are getting their cars in today for the best vantage point... Unfortunately the weather by all reports is going to be shit but the show must go on. The chew will probably just slot himself across half forward for the start of the match and then call for first change into the midfield after the first 5-10 mins.... Im more nervous about the hawks v saints than me own GF - Go hawks surely if we bring our "a" game that will be enough....

Re: Farrer League

I read in the DA that the rock will be putting forward an application to the hume league to join. If this was to go ahead what would be the future of the farrer league

Re: Farrer League

not sure I spoke to a Osborne person the other day I think he told them he has had a couple of offers.
Mazzoc can't be going to Osborne because they have resigned Harty for another year. So the rumour mill will keep turning and we will wait for the next hot gossip to come along

Re: Farrer League

The Gullie look like they want to move across as well
Both clubs seem to have forgotten that their is a due process to go through before they do anything. They both have to be released by the farrer league which I cant see happening as all clubs will have to vote in their favour, and they have to be accepted by the Hume which I cant see happening either as Hume are trying to sort out comp with too many clubs.

Re: Farrer League

The uneven nature of the Farrer League and only having 6 teams is a major battle for player retainment at some clubs.

i think if TRYC and Gullie were to join the Hume the Hume League will def. split into two comps leaving Rivcoll to merge with the Saints and Marrar to join Coolie. Not having juniors is a real issue for these clubs??

As for the Roos and Jets??

Some good suggestions here
Why is their a rivcoll team anyway really what is the sense in that. You could disband them and therefore these players could play for clubs struggling with numbers
Could jets and roos go to northern riverina league it has 8 teams now so to have 10 would strenghten their league

I think the travel in the Northern Riverina would be a major downfall in getting players to hang around, especially the trip to Cobar. At least with the Farrer, the Wagga based players don't have far to travel each week. With the Northern Riverina, they would have to Travel from Wagga to Condobolin, Cobar, Lake Cargelligo, Ungarie, Tullibigeal which would discourage a lot of people. The Roos and Jets could possibly dominate that league for a while a bit like Barellan did when they moved there, then slowly players get sick of the travel year in year out and move.

Rivcoll should definitely merge with Marrar maybe.. they should have an affiliation with a team to make it easier for students to get into a team.

Will be interesting to see if the Hawks come into the Farrer.. signs look ominous for the competition - there really needs to be a major restructure for the Riverina region.

Re: Farrer League

Yes but problem with Marrar/Rivcoll is still no junior base to attain players. At least if Marrar/Coolamon merge to RFL and Rivcoll/Saints you will have juniors.

I thought Hawks decided to stay RFL???

Re: Farrer League

I like the North Wagga-Rivcoll & Marrar Coolamon mergers. What happens to the participation rate for seniors though - there will be a lot of players who want to play Farrer level who may miss out on a game with RFL clubs??

Hawks probably have decided to stay - the last I heard they were considering it and that was a little while ago. I believed it depended on if Farrer got u/17's. Going to be interesting to see what happens if The Rock and/or Gullie go to Hume... So will the remaining teams go to the RFL or will they try and go to a split Hume league with an East & West style set up??

Those players who would play farrer seniors could go the the rock or gullie and play seniors in hume..

Re: Farrer League

il just throw this idea out there about the farrer league next year, from all reports hume league clubs are complaining of the excessive travel and the uneven nature of the draw with certain clubs playin stronger clubs twice ets etc..
wouldnt it just be common sense to bring the likes of henty, culcairn and lockhart in to the farrer league??? it would be less strain on the hume league and would benefit farrer immensly.. i can only see positives in it..
whats everyones thought on it.. although i understand these clubs may not wanna do this!

If you think they are complaining now you have no idea how unhappy these clubs would be with this decision. A big part of the hume league is juniors and with farrar not having a junior structure they simply wont go. And if the farrar does implement under 17s like they suggested two teams wont have them and as well as that what about all the younger kids from culcairn lockhart and henty who play under 14s. Simple plan in theory but would need alot of things to change for these clubs to even consider being part of the farrar league

Re: Farrer League

Would not worry about the piggies boys. Why would a club that keeps producing a side need to merge or swap leagues. Great club and if you removed it i recon you would lose more players from the game as they would play other sports available to them on campus.

With the emphasis going upon a junior structure do you care to tell me how they will survive on their own?

Re: Farrer League

perhaps rivcoll and marrar could merge together with a junior team and could affiliate themselves with wagga swans..? keeping there senior teams as there own identities.. that perhaps could get them the numbers needed..

this is of the basis hume league clubs opted to come into farrer not if it stays as is!:thumbsu:

Re: Farrer League

The no juniors is the biggest deterrant for teams to join the Farrer - IMO all Leagues in the Riverina should have uniform junior comps which would allow the easy transition from one league to the other. Farrer needs juniors at 14's and 17's if it hopes to attract Lockhart and other Hume teams to survive - it would definitely be a step in the right direction in getting the league back up and running.

Hopefully the RFL could align as well to allow weaker RFL teams such as North Wagga to come into the Farrer competition.

North Wagga, Eastern Hawks, Culcairn and Lockhart all have said they want to remain in their current league so what does all this talk even matter

its called throwing up a few ideas on what could maybe work! no one is saying this is the way it will be, its just a few roads the league could possibly look down.
