this discussion will never get old.

its hard to pick a fav from the best band ever.
obviously there are so many genious moments. i think over time for no one has prob been my most played beatles song.

its an amazing pop song. the lyrics are straight up and heartfelt. macas delivery has that prefect balance of emotion without getting to overly sappy or silly..something he gets a little flack for.

and then there is that amazing french horn, perfect.
its short, its sweet.. i personally think its better than yesterday.
he should play it more..

so top 10.

01 for no one
02 a day in the life
03 tomorrow never knows
04 happiness is a warm gun
05 you never give me your money
06 while my guitar gently weeps
07 im a loser
08 she's so heavy
09 she's leaving home

Great song and very underrated. McCartney is usually upbeat and positive but this one is rather bleak.

I was listening to them on my Ipod the other night for the first time in many a year and I was struck by how amazing this band really is. Very rarely does something so huge justify the hype but the Beatles probably do and then some. Such simple brilliant melodies along with superbly written lyrics. If the Beatles music doesnt resonate with you then I have to ask if you have ever lived and loved. Simple as.

"I'm only sleeping" might do it for me, but like everyone else has said, picking one is nigh on impossible.

Love the final part of "Dear Prudance". Music probably doesnt get any better than that for me

Definitely A Day In The Life for me, really a beautiful song that is completely perfect in every way. Impossible to beat.

Very hard to chose one, here is a favorite from each album, but ask me tomorrow and it would be a different list.

Do You Want To Know A Secret
It wont be Long
A Hard Days Night
I'm A Loser
Help
In My Life
I'm Only Sleeping
Strawberry Fields Forever
A Day in the Life
I am the Walrus
While My Guitar Gently Weeps
Here Comes the Sun
The Long And Winding Road

Listening right now to remasters and absolutely disgusted that everyones forgotten "Yesterday" (including myself)
"Michelle" would have to be up there too

Depending on mood, it could be any of:

I Feel Fine
Run For Your Life
Taxman
I'm Only Sleeping
Tomorrow Never Knows
Being For The Benefit Of Mr Kite
A Day In The Life
Strawberry Fields Forever
Helter Skelter

Here Comes The Sun, though I rate McCartney as their best singer/writer (uncontroversialy).

Hey Jude is their anthem.

Odd piece of trivia:

From 2:56 to 2:58 of the song, someone can be heard to say, "Hit the wrong chord!", followed by, "Oh, ****ing hell!" There is some dispute as to who said this... (continued)

It's true too, have a listen and you'll hear it.

Wow, I've never noticed that before, funny considering the 23892080923438904328493 times I've listened to it.

Surprised no one has mentioned Blackbird.. absolutely beautiful.
My other favourites are:

Get back
Here comes the sun
I'm looking through you
Come together
A day in the life

On a day in life.. i always thought this sounds familiar to the McCartney's part (woke up, fell out of bed...). Anyone else think so too?

I've always loved Yesterday, such a simple yet beautiful song. There are so many good songs to choose from I could probably name a list of about 10. I'm not a big fan of some of the early stuff though.

Strawberry Fields Forever
Here, There and Everywhere
Let it Be
Here Comes the Sun
A Day in the Life
While my guitar gently weeps
The Long and Winding Road
Golden Slumbers

Never get tired of listening to any of these songs.

Not as much love for Happiness is a Warm Gun as I would have expected, amazing song... I'd say that, A Day in the Life and Yesterday would be my top 3

A Day In The Life (just a masterpiece)
Let It Be
Yesterday
Ticket To Ride
Yellow Submarine

And of course, Daytripper. :D
