If on tap, Carlsberg will be the first beer I'll drink and Heineken rates very closely as well.

Odd question, but what is a good beer that comes in a can? Doesn't have to be a carton of course.

Love getting like 4-8 different quality beers opposed to a carton of something average. Have to do it more often.

Brains SA, Badger's Tanglefoot, Marston's Pedigree and Greene King's Abbot Ale for starters.

Got a carton of Fat Yak the other week and wont go back for a while.

Might have just been an average brew but it wasnt the fat yak I appreciate. Anyone else?

Little Creatures pale ale definitely comes before it and James Squire 150 lashes pale ale will be my new summer session beer in the heat.

And Boags XXX Ale remains the macro winner for mine, with a dabble on the underrated Melbourne Bitter now and then.

I don't know as I just haven't been a huge fan of Fat Yak.
I do go along with many others re. Mountain Goat Hightail. Just a great serious beer.
I have had a soft spot for Little Creatures for a long time. Happy going back for a bit of nostalgia every now and then.

Yep has happened to me before with Fat Yak.
I ain't a massive fan of it but I definitely tell something was a bit off.

I do agree you get some Fat Yaks which are much much better than others, i know a pub near my plave which does it pretty well on tap most of the time. but in bottles it is FAR less reliable.

I am also glad to say i tried the Sierra Nevada Pale Ale which generally gets great reports through this thread. Will get it again if i get the chance.

When talking about Fat Yak, the SN is definately a better beer imo, fat yak just isnt as good a PA.

What do you have in your fridge now?

I have:
Mountain Goat Hightail Ale: bought again off the recommendations in this thread, after not having really liked it when I've had it previously. I was wrong, must've got a bad batch or something (i can remember it having this rancid yeast taste), beer is fantastic.
LCPA
James Boags Premium
3 Ravens Blonde: good brewery.

I also enjoy Melbourne when drinking in a session, watching footy/playing poker etc. Great to have as a standby, cheap and not nearly as bad as VB. :thumbsu:

Currently have,
LCPA
Sierra Nevada Torpedo IPA
Murray's Grand Cru
Murray's Icon 2IPA

Must say as a break from pales, the Grand Cru is a seriously good beer.

I'm a bit over really hoppy beers at the moment so I've been drinking a bit of this lately on tap at the Local

http://www.bridgeroadbrewers.com.au/chevalier-saison.html

Got some bottles for home, a really refreshing easy to drink beer with some real flavour which goes down especially well during this warm weather we're having.

Anyone know much about Red Stripe Lager? I had it years back, wanted to get it again but can't find it really anywhere. Searched on boozle.com.au and it was heaps expensive. I don't remember it being that expensive back in the day though.

Also anyone know anything about this Phoenix Beers place that sells stuff at wholesale prices?

Forget both of em i'd say. Mediocre is being kind.

Really? Red stripe was the bomb whilst in Europe for me, mainly due to it's price. It was pretty much the Carlton draught type choice for me, which was perfect for my budget.

Not sure I'd drink it back home though. Much prefer a Bridge Road Chestnut Pilsner ;)

Just because it's cheap doesn't make it good. Just because you drink it cause it's cheap doesn't make it good either :p

It is better than Carlton though.

newcastle Brown ale. I generally prefer dark beers, if it is a light one It should be Becks gold.

Or since it is winter i really like Flensburger Winterbock :)

Otherwise if I am not having beer, I like Cider :)
