Manson is getting a tad overhyped IMO. He is playing on short people up there, and defense is not a priority in those games either.

Has some exciting attributes no doubt but needs a lot of development, couple that with the go home factor and he would be a risk.

Fev is a waste of time.

can he play?

My humble opinon is a big don't want, would butcher the ball I reckon.

Don't really need Fev, we have an All-Australian full forward. Drew can play out of the square for the next 4-5 years. Drew is not really a classic full time CHF so he and Fev would get in each others way deep in the fwd line.
However would like to see Fev given another chance. I don't think he's vicious or a total w***er, he just seems like a big immature boy that has been refusing to grow up and gets caught out all the time when mucking up, even slightly. If the penny hasn't finally dropped for him by now then god help him.
Can only imagine the total over the top media hysteria if someone does get him.

similar to ben cousins situation, and that worked out. i wouldn't have him because it would be arrogant to assume we can sort him out when the lions couldn't.

He went to Brisbane on big money and as a marquee player. He'd be going to any club that picked him up now after a very torrid 12 months in his personal life, on minimum wage and knowing even the smallest incident will be the end.

Not fussed either way but the only thing we'd lose is a list spot.

I want him. He in our forward line together with Drew and Azza will be deadly for the opposition and it will the best thing for our club on and off the field since Wayne Carey left.

I reckon saying No to the Gold Coast is the biggest thing off field for our club and how is Wayne Carey leaving the way he did a great thing?

Yeah his preferred helter skelter style doesn't suit our current crop of emerging kiddies, and he's too willing to have others do the hard work for him to just sit there wrongfully claiming the (accolades) infamy. Pass!

He can kick goals from 50 meters.
That has been the major downfall for us.
It's why we keep losing games we should win.
The defense and midfield bust their guts getting the ball to our forwards,
who then proceed to kick out on the full.

That is an insult to the North boys who bust their asses for the side each week. If we're after another Wayne Carey we'd better get ready to pay for another best player ever.

Anyway, if we get him:

Petrie, Edwards, Black as forward options.
Hansen, Pedersen and Tarrant as options for either end.
Goldstein and HMac rucking and pushing forward.
Warren and McKinley filling in from time to time.

Which of these players who are without any off-field indiscretions, who are respected and liked by their teammates, who have run themselves in to the ground for this club, and who provide a bright future, should make way for a dim-witted, grubby, lazy, selfish 31 year old dead beat who has pissed off and then been pissed off by 2 clubs already? A player who couldn't make it through his last season because of injury? A player who offers nothing in the way of leadership? A player with no big game experience?

Do not want ==> heads

everyone was laughing at us when Carey left. They would be laughing even louder if we took Brendon Fallover

You can add that it's a joke to compare who many regard as the greatest player ever to someone who isn't even in the top 10 of his position ever.

This. We've got nothing to lose and everything to gain in my opinion. Fev will be Cousins Mk II for whoever take him, however i dont think any club will have the courage to try

2008 season - Richmond finish 9th - pick up Ben Cousins in PSD
2009 season - Richmond finish 15th
2010 season - Richmond finish 15th

On what scale of things could the drafting of Ben Cousins possibly be regarded as anything but an abject failure? Unless we want to tank for priority picks, why choose this as a model?

This is clutching at straws for a reason not to get Fev , To say Richmond failing the 2 yrs Cousins was there is because of him is garbage , Richmond always ass themselves to 9th on the odd yr but we all know with or without Cuz they're a spectacular rabble ......

Was definitely a win for us. We planned to get Nahas with our PSD pick and he managed to slip to our number 8 rookie pick, he genuinely cost us nothing.

He played for minimum wage in his first year, and was one of, if not the best leader at our club. If he was on the bench and Cotchin or Martin came off the field he was straight in their ear, telling then what they can be doing to improve. Dimma said what he taught our young guys was invaluable. He was basically a player/ coach.

Oh, and he could play footy, like REALLY well.

All of those are valid. FWIW I don't think it was a disaster for you guys to get him. But Fev offers none of those benefits, and like Cousins has had injury issues late.

Why did Carlton become a better team after Fevola left?

Who knows ? maybe a improved gameplan , maybe the top players all playing well along with the young and second string players stepping up ?? who knows ? if they had him this yr they might of made it further ?

Brisbane certainly didnt get any better once he left .......

Very true. For all his offield indiscretions Cousins was still an onfield leader.

Fevola on the other hand......

He wasn't the reason we were so poor for the two years after we got him, our team was horrid, but he instantly made us a better side. I'm stoked he was a part of the RFC.

You are right Fev wouldn't offer any of the things Cuz did, and that's why no one really wants to take the punt on him. You really wouldn't feel comfortable with him getting into your young players ears. I can't see him making your side any better.

Aaron Black should develop more next year, instead of a bad stop ap in Fev.

I love Black, the kid is a gem!

I think you're on to something. It would have had nothing to do with losing Sherman, Brennan, Rischetelli, or Brown, Staker and Merret missing most of the season with injuries.

Of course he wasn't the reason. It many ways it was a bold, albeit misguided move. I say misguided because at the time many felt you guys were going to push on into the 8.

Fev has 3-4 years left in a perfect world. Our Premiership window opens in 2031 or quicker if the kids we draft in 2028 come on. Of course we don't wan't to risk pick 91 on a Coleman medalist.

I'm far more concerned about how we could possibly get fat boy back into AFL shape by March.
