Would the Lions really make something up this big?? I surely hope not but it does sound like a set up. I don't think there is any need to bother. The media is more the blame over any Fev debacle than Fev himself IMO.

Would the club "make something up"?

In a word , NO!

But I reckon they are susceptible to being played off a break, especially with a new and untested chairman in the seat.

There are just too many stars and planets being aligned at once in this whole sorry saga for my liking....even down to the shit hitting the fan the day before the club B&F dinner....................and Fev being hurriedly told his attendance would not be required.

Seems a little too convenient to me.

It does seem very convenient and that is the worry for me. It seems the club were already very very keen on getting rid of him and have jumped at the chance now. Regardless of what the findings are I don't think Fevola will be a Lion next season. Fevola could be gone for nothing.

Deeper conspiracy - Velocity Sports. A little too close for comfort. Discuss.

What do you think there is to discuss, OldLion?

Considering that there was a statement from Velocity Sports in which Fevola's innocence is proclaimed, it would seem that they are acting fairly normally in favour of their client. http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/102269/default.aspx

To be honest, I can't really see Lynch being used as a pawn by Voss or the club in order to achieve a certain result.

The total lack of objective approach and thinking by the club has got me worried.

The whole tone of that Press Conference smacked of desperation and exasperation.

As Stocka pointed out earlier, the player-club relationship is now surely so damaged as to be irretrievable....thanks entirely to the club throwing Fev to the media wolves.

In my most humble view, there is a really big chance that these "allegations" will be thrown out as frivolous, unproven, having no basis in fact or just downright vexatious.....or all of the above.

In which case, the club will end up as the big losers and yes, perhaps lose Fev for jack-shit.

I believe a far more prudent line for Bowers and A Johnson to have taken, would have been the old boring (but safe) response along the lines of

" The club has encouraged Brendan to co-operate fully with the investigation, and in the meantime , he retains our support"

It seems these days that someone has only got to complain about a sportsperson letting fly with a particularly smelly fart and the entire world goes into complete meltdown.

Is it possible though that there has been other things they have managed to keep quiet...and this is the last straw?

I really have a feeling there has got to be more to this..or the only alternative is that our club is, as I've heard the media say, an absolute basketcase and in total disarray....which is totally mindboggling!

Perhaps the bbq incident really did happen...none of us know for sure, only what we are told by the club....and yes Browny flatly denied it, but if he is told to, he has too doesn't he..

As I have said in other threads, I'm trying to look at all angles, because this whole thing just doesn't add up or make sense..

I did, did I? :confused::D

It will further compound people's beliefs that we are run very incompetently as a club and that those in charge will be perceived to be doing a very bad job. On top of the season we've just had, it's hard to think of other clubs over the years who will have had as much bad press as we will have had, should this Fevola incident turn sour on us.

Dunno I have the view....Get this wrong and Bowers will be doing the "Quick Draw McGraw .... exit, stage left...

If he has honestly been set up, what a disgusting act by a club he is meant to call home.

There is almost zero chance the lions have set him up but there is a big chance the chick has or she is covering her ass with an upset hubby......the lions have not supported him hoping like hell they can get out of the 1.7 mill they have to pay him but i doubt very much they are driving this.

This is going to be a watch this space.....I'm waiting for the reply from Velocity..

No matter if the Fev has been set up, or a guilty willy - he would HAVE to leave now - his position amongst the club and the playing group is pretty much untenable - especially after the way the club left him out to dry at the p/c.

.... Either way, the next person who should be following him out the door is Voss. This bloke is Danny Frawley mark II - Had a good squad last year and did well - then completely overrated the squad and "where they are at" and went for gold for the possible "Fame & Glory" instead of taking the long road.

.

From what they reported on the Footy show, Fev believes he has been set up and the club want him gone ..now regardless of the outcome of the investigation, surely his future at the lions is untenable because of this issue.?

Can he continue on at a club that he believes wants him gone ?

Where did you get that from?...His statement was...."I cant comment on this but I maintain my innocence and I look forward to giving my side of the story to police as soon as possible I have nothing to hide."

How does suspending Fevola from all club activities leave the relationship untenable? Did I miss something in the press conference?

I applaud the club for taking this strong position but I cant see how the club has hung fevola out to dry?

Damian Barrat when asked, stated that the feeling in the Fevola camp and of Fevola himself is that he is of the belief that the club have grabbed this opportunity..and with the extension of the AFL, (whom the Lions asked to get involved) to get him out of the club..he is alledgedly on more than a Million dollars in 2011, this will drop down in 2012.

So according to Barrat and his Lions sources it's Fev V the Lions in this matter.

Barret makes assumption on a feeling of the Fevola camp...Who?..Velocity sports? Lynch? Fev? he gives nothing ..it could be Barret putting himself in the Fev camp.... speculating.....You do know the Hun have outed this woman as a Blues supporter...
But some witnesses yesterday contested the latest allegation made against him.
One is believed to have contacted Brisbane police to provide his own version of events supporting Fevola.
It is believed the troubled star has told friends he was followed to the car by the woman, a Carlton fan, where he signed a football for her.
He says he did not indecently expose himself.
Another witness contacted the Herald Sun to say Fevola was pestered by the woman.
"The truth will come out," a source close to Fevola said.

this is going to get good!!!!

This is what I think is happening. It's too convoluted for the Lions to have come up with, but they've seen an open door and they're running for it.

If this is the case, they need to tread carefully.

The first question I would ask the club...

"Who signed off on Fev's salary being ok to be added to our current salary cap?"

Thanks LionKing, I agree.

For goodness sake, some of the 'reading between the lines' in this thread and others about this issue is ridiculous!

It's normal practice for an employer to suspend an employee under investigation. It's also normal for an employer to acknowledge the rights of the complainant. I don't see the club as hanging him out to dry at all. Perhaps clubs have gone too far in the past in supporting their misbehaving players?

I'm not saying Brendan is guilty, nor am I ruling out the possibility that he has been set up by the husband and wife involved. Unfortunately, his own actions have made him an easy target for something like this - if I were his employer, I'd be pretty pissed off at the way his name keeps coming up in 'scandals', even allowing for the fact that the 'bbq incident' was a complete fabrication.

The Lions may very well be grabbing onto something that they see as an opportunity to get rid of him - (and like many others, I wouldn't be upset to see him gone) but their press conference was just standard corporate speak. In my opinion of course.

On another point, someone mentioned that they were surprised to not see any media questioning the story - I thought it was interesting and incredibly ironic to read a column in today's Courier Mail suggesting that he was being judged all too quickly and possibly harshly - perhaps the CM could have thought of that before the 'broke the story'???

There is a picture of the woman in the HUN today, she looks like Posh Spice to me which explains a bit.
