Looking for a BF regular, someone active at least, to take over an existing team in Empire League.

League Page - https://www45.myfantasyleague.com/2024/home/70732

Team Roster - https://www45.myfantasyleague.com/2024/options?L=70732&F=0012&O=07

Team is loaded with talent, and have an early draft pick in all six rounds of the rookie draft in July.

Details of the league....

- $30 entry fee every year, part of the money goes toward paying the annual league cost, and the rest goes toward prize money end of season ($200 for champ, $100 for runner-up)

- League is a salary cap and contracts league.

- You won't be thrown into the deep end, commish and others are always there to guide you thru the nuts and bolts of whatever may seem confusing.

Just me being philosophical and thinking of the future here.....please feedback me....

My concerns....

1) BF regulars getting older, busier lives, children....dropping out of leagues on an annual basis increasing....and getting harder to find new people to replace, harder to also build a continuity with core people.

2) onset of cash leagues growing in popularity. Sleeper etc skyrocketing. Why invest time in free leagues when you can play for prizemoney? There are certain members on BF who've dropped out of free leagues here to focus on cash leagues, often involved in 5-10 cash leagues on sleeper instead of wasting time on free leagues.

3) large sized dynasty leagues (16 people) is cool if you have a continuity of 16 people, but having to find replacements every year and the churn of people in and out, lessens the dynastic quality of 16 especially....new people inheriting poor rosters or seeing it could take 3-5 yrs to build a top roster...eg, like dominance of NDG in alpha hard to overcome (if a paid league too) a bad investment to join.

4) in terms of prizemoney leagues....smaller leagues 8-12 people with smaller rosters and/or simpler formats (no salary cap or no IDPs, just focus on sexy offense), seem more attractive to the fantasy population...and especially joining more and more new startup prizemoney leagues, so you RIGHT AWAY can see a return on investment....draft well on startup, win it or find you now have one of the leagues top long term rosters -- "ok, now I'll hold onto that league, I'll dump some other league I'm not so good in."

5) building a portfolio of cash leagues as an investment strategy,. Doesnt matter if with total strangers, not about a group of friends. The aim..."spend say $200 a year entry fee on 5 fantasy comps I'm good in = $500 return annually. And from year to year, replacing those zero-return leagues with new start ups i draft well in to increase $500 to $800-$1000 return and holding that portfolio".

With all that in mind....

I'm concerned with the future of Alpha, Omega and Empire. Alpha has seen a huge number of regulars drop out. Omega had its similar struggles, and a number of non-BF people there too, hard to interact with on BF, never certain one day suddenly awol or drop out. Empire has always had people drop out, but getting harder now to find replacements and its bit more complex to entice.

Possible future options to consider....

A) Turn Alpha/Omega into prizemoney leagues, either kept on FF and going thru a manual money collection process. Along with Empire already a prizemoney league staying on MFL

B) Disband both Alpha and Omega, collect the 12 most regular and invested people from both those leagues into a single new free Fleaflicker startup league (but kept a simpler league like Alpha in terms of roster and rules). And keep Empire, any others from disbanded Alpha/Omega to recruit to Empire as already need one replacement there.

C) Disband all three leagues. Collect 12 of the most regular and/or invested people from those three leagues and create a single new startup prizemoney league (either on sleeper or MFL), not terribly simple no IDPs, but not terribly complex like Empire.

D) Bit of all of the above.....disband all three, create one new simpler startup draft league (either free or prizemoney) on FF/Sleeper....and....startup Syndicate League only on MFL as prizemoney league (syndicate not a standard draft league, has salary cap but is all auctions and soccer-like transfer fees, trading cap dollars and such, but is actually much simpler to manage for commish and team owners).

----So....

Not making a decision here, and I'm not one to just disband leagues on people or quit on people. But if the majority of all the people who play in my three leagues WANT TO as well..... I'm perhaps interested in doing the D) option.

In short....personally focusing on running just TWO comps, both new startups. One standard, one with a twist as i enjoy also having. One can be free, or both can be prizemoney. One on FF/Sleeper, one on MFL. And....also streamlining things. Alpha and Omega are essentially the same league. Omega and Empire are very similar. So better to streamline -- one standard dynasty league, but simpler like Alpha, and one very different concept league like Syndicate.

REMEMBER... I'm happy to keep Alpha, Omega, and Empire all running too. Just only if people are willing to, then I'm willing to too. Could be same 12 people in both, or 24 different people, or 18 in both and 6 in the other.

It'd be about streamlining three similar leagues down to one standard and one unusual, about a core group of keen or dependable people, about thanking the past and enticing new beginnings (startups) and how times are changing (cash leagues > free leagues) etc.

NOTE....

i know auction leagues are unpopular,
so I could also make Syndicate a hybrid of draft and auction....the mechanics of it is just more about it being a soccer-like transfer (financial) system, trading players and cap dollars, loaning players and such. Startup can be draft and can be annual rookie only drafts too.

Empire is tough, coz I think most of the guys in it love it and wouldnt want to lose it (which im one), but yeah, having to find new guys every year or so is becoming harder and harder. Not sure what the answer is with that, unless we cut the teams down and did some type of dispersal draft/auction on teams no longer playing, get rid of divisions and just have everyone play each other once?

I think re draft best ball leagues might be the go if we are playing cash. Dont have to worry about people not setting lineups, dont have to worry about replacements as much, everyone who had a bad draft gets a new shot each year and no one has to take over bad teams.

Thats also a great idea too. I love Empire btw. Would hate to lose it completely. Every new rookie draft makes it harder to even think about disbanding because you fall in love with your guys.

So there are more than ABCD options.

Empire trimmed to 12, one conference of three divisions of four perfectly fits a 14 game regular season then playoffs. Also, trimming down to one conference would save us money on the annual league fees....two conferences is a Deluxe league....tho prizemoney would dip a little because 4 less people paying $30.

Dispersal of talent, many options available. Would be interesting tho. Perhaps could also make it 2 QB league with 12 people.

Could also keep Empire as is, its fine, just need one person to join.

Alpha is probably a better league than Omega per se. Omega is basically Empire without the cap. Too similar, even the scoring. Alpha's new roster/scoring makes it better than Alpha used to be.

Gun to head basically....Alpha more viable than Omega purely for being more different than Empire. At the same time tho...a whole new startup with a collection of people from alpha/omega more enticing than keeping Alpha, as people can now all start afresh with their hand-picked rosters. That new startup would use Alpha rules tho, so itd be an Alpha reboot. And that can be made a prizemoney league then as people seem to prefer nowadays on Sleeper or FF.

For those who use Sleeper....is there a collection fee system or is it still going ro be manual, sending money to commish bank account etc? And can it do FF-like acoring, IDPs and such?

Another viable option. No alpha/omega, just a best ball cash league + empire.

Just collect money ourselves, it's not like underdog where the site holds it, just a fantasy platform.Yes they do idps and all that. Just no ability for salary cap.

Why is Sleeper so popular compared to FF? I really like FF as it has a lot of commish options and features that ESPN never had, but is it just Sleeper is sexier looking with a better app?

Sleeper has a shit tonne of commish options, and yes, the app is just way better. Looks good, operates smoothly, lots of options/functions, pretty much everything you need. I havent run into anything on it and said "I wish it had this". I dont have any other sites apps on my phone, find them too buggy.

Perhaps....

- Give up on Syndicate (at least for now).

- Empire is there, has a history and many people invested, even if sometimes squabbles or issues happen. Can float new ideas for it.

- Alpha/Omega, tho lovable in their own way, more expendable (the leagues, not the people). Collect 12 people from them, move them over to a new free or cash Alpha-like league or best ball cash league. Enticement of startup and/or cash.

Ill download the app today and create a new test league just to see how deep it can go etc

Not particularly interested in pay to play.
Not particularly interested in a new start up.

If you shut down alpha and omega that is fine, disappointing in particular for alpha, then I will just ride the BF Fleaflicker competition as my league.

Also, interesting time to discuss shutting down 2 leagues that are about to draft. Has killed any interest in trading future picks now as what's the point?

Also, if alpha is in its last season my trade of of tyreek for a future 1st was a waste of time. I should have kept him for this season.

I said OP.....im not shutting down any leagues. Just thinking aloud of the future. Also said id rather hold onto Alpha than Omega if gun to head had to pick one to disband.

Btw, had a dive into Sleeper just now. Still like FF for options than Sleeper. Has more. But Sleeper is sexy looking. Its not bare bones, but it doesnt have as many options. For instance...no emai draft is not good
why do you need an email draft? Everyone gets notifications on their phone when its their pick. Can set the clock to any time you like/have no clock.

Ok thats good too. Email/Phone draft are similar things

Just some cash players might no longer be interested like Gin and Remon which is fine. Give them a chance to leave and they will likely jump at the opportunity.
I don't mind free leagues. But id rather a new start up rather than the orphans I currently have. At least I have the control of picking who I want for the majority of the squad.
