I just think that people are taking it as a given that Finn will be a gun because Jack is a gun.

I’m pinning my hopes on Finn being a gun because he looks like a gun.

The Hill brothers have both been decent with flashes of brilliance at times. Crouch and Curnow brothers are both good. There are actually quite a few solid brother pairings. McKay's, Jones', Kolodjashnij's, Swallow's, just to name a few recently. Sure there are some I'm missing.

But generally, I agree with you. Expecting him to be as good as his brother due to the relation is not wise IMO. I do think he's going to make it, just because of his own merits.

On the contrary side our own team has had a few highly talented brother acts . .

The Coventry brothers
The Collier brothers
The Thomey brothers
The Richardson brothers

I guess a contributing factor is that the modern family is usually much smaller now.

I like a balanced discussion, and sometimes that means being able to argue both sides.

Those sets of brothers were a looooong time ago. Also, when you have those big families, and the eldest is good, nepotism kicks in.

I watched both Wayne and Max for their whole careers - very different players but both very good.

Young McCrae certainly seems to have the goods, proficient on both sides of the body, good football smarts and knows how to find space. But, we need to curb our expectations. He is a young lad and has a lot of development in front of him. I am buoyed by the young talent we have recruited recently, Finn included, but let's not get ahead of ourselves and place too much expectation on these young men.
I will be watching their development with quiet expectation and hoping that they each fulfil their respective potential. If they do, then Collingwood's future will be bright.
 
He'll build some even more size over the preseason too.
Grundy Adams, Macrae, Pendles/ N Daicos are going to be your mids (rotating)

I think Finn Macrae will be a slow burn and one day we will say "when did this kid get so good"

Nick Daicos is going Pick 1 or 2 in the Draft so I think he will make it and also Dominating at Nab League

So Finn might be good because Jack is good, because Nick might be good while Josh is already quite good…

Can’t we just judge Finn on his merits?!

Say what you will about Rhyce, but he was a 200 game, premiership player. He and Heath were both very good footballers.

I like Rhyce; I actually went to school with him, he was mates with my younger sister. I was angry when he was humiliated for slipping over in a GF, and I concede he was a very good footballer. Would I be excited about recruiting him? Not really. Would I have been excited about the potential for Heater based on Rhyce’s performances alone? Not really, no.

I said nothing about Fin being good as Jack

I watched Nick Daicos play this year and he has clearly been the Best Player in the NAB League
