We are definitely a chance and should be one of the favourites, but it's way too early to call.

The most important thing is injuries, always is. They can make or break a team's chances.

The other thing is, as much as these last quarter comebacks are awesome to watch, I don't think they are ideal. I'd be more confident if we had more games like the Port Adelaide game, where we just completely dismantle the other team instead of giving them a winning chance and smashing them with pure grit in the last quarter. It wasn't quite enough in last year's finals, even though it nearly was in both games.

Last year after we recruited Frampton, Hill, Mitchell and McStay I told anyone in my life who would listen that we'd smash Geelong in Round 1 and go on to win the flag.

I tend to die on hills, so I'll stick to it

Right at the minute, we're terribly out of form, nothing like the first 3 weeks. We play with this form in September, we aren't winning it, play like we did against Port, no one will come near us.
  • Currently we're about last for score from turn over, normally our strongest scoring source.
  • Lacking DE forward of ball, our i50 entries have been atrocious of late and shows on the score board.
  • Not picking off the 45 kick into corridor and get exposed with oppo having outnumber forward of ball, coz our defenders are high up. In short relies on DE to damage the oppo, pick off that kick and we score.
That is in part due our structure has been thrown into disarray and we've had to adjust that is the opposite of ideal, I'm confident we can regain structure when the whips are cracking, still, gotta find that form at the right time.

I'm confident our best form is pretty much unbeatable given the belief in the group of what they can do, like outnumber, score from turnover, score from stoppage, attack from d50 through corridor etc. This groups believe they can better every other team - just not doing it at the minute.

We just need to build that form in the back half of the season and be humming like rounds 1-3 in September, do that and we probably can't be defeated.

Hope and pray, fingers and toes crossed, because our window is short as key pieces like Sides and Pendles are up against father time.

Why not?I think we’ve got as good a chance as anyone of winning it.But as others have said it’s way too early to kmow.

We do need a few things going our way however. No major injuries going into the finals. A top four position of course. And most definitely no knock out finals interstate. That Preliminary final in Sydney killed off any realistic chance we had of winning the flag last year.

We potentially can but luck does not tend to fall our way and most flag teams have luck along the way and I would not be surprised if injuries kept us at bay.

I still have Cats as favourites and Brisbane are my runner up. We’ll be up there but we are still missing some key parts or the puzzle. Having did that, I hope I’m wrong.

Not entirely sure that our form is any worse. We are a different team with Cameron cox and mcstay all missing. Let’s not underestimate what that’s done to our structure. We are missing Howe to a lesser extent but that too was amplified when the defence lost Frampton to cover ruck. It meant Moore was unable to play his natural game as effectively.

Also not sure we were exactly humming against Geelong. Great win but we gave up three seperate four goal leads during that game. You don’t do that too many times against good teams and come back every time to win the match. Wouldn’t want try try that on in finals!

Do you expect the Pies to win the flag this year?

No.

Nup.

Not at all.

I have no expectations. Zero. None. Nada.

I am simply enjoying the journey.

And if they do win the flag shouldn’t that be a joyous thing, rather than simply a ‘tick, expectations met’?

And if they don’t win the flag, hey, it’s a shame, but I still will have enjoyed the journey.

But for this week we’re playing for four points against Swans. No flags on offer this weekend.
