Is anyone else having trouble getting a flight back from canberra. I had a flight booked with virgin (which i booked about 1 mth ago) that was changed from 7pm to 5pm(which is near useless if i want to see the end of the game). Now the only return flight i can get is with Qantas (via webjet) cos the Qantas website says the flight is sold out and the webjet price is $279. Surely if the AFL are going to schedule games in locations like Canberra then you would think the major sponsor (Qantas) can have more than 1 flight leaving the place back to melbourne after the game.
Better still Virgin can bloody honour the flights they had orginally scheduled.

pissed off.

May I suggest an email/call to all of the following Neil Mitchell, Sport Tonight, SEN, the AFL, Virgin Blue, Qantas, the Herald Sun, The Age and anyone else with you can think of.
I can assure the PR people at Qantas and Virgin Blue and the AFL take note of what is said on radio and printed in the newspapers by ordinary people. No company likes to hear it being bad mouthed on Radio. In fact I suggest you call Mitchell in the morning and Sports tonight in the evening and then ask you friends to do the same. You will get a response. Also, I'd suggest you are not the only one in this situation.
Give it a crack and see how you go.

I booked flights months ago with Virgin leaving 8 am Saturday morning and returning 1:00 Sunday afternoon. Both flights have been slightly modified by Virgin but i am lucky that both times are no where near the starting/finishing time of the game.

When Virgin changed the time of their flight, did you give them a call?? and if you did, what did they say?

I was booked on that Virgin flight too. Couldn't even get my money back, only got a voucher for a future replacement flight. Now I'm trying to get my seat tickets money refunded. Bummer all round! Where do these airlines get off making such scheduling changes? Not happy Jan.
