They could tease out a couple calls into the kind of stories that we want from a panel with Caro AND Hutchy, as well as keeping Caro engaged - THEN rehash/deconstruct the weakened's footy.

Solid, decent, okayish, no-frills episode.

Kind of piecemeal, touching on lots and lots of topics (Carlton, Gold Coast, etc), but because it’s Round 2 and there’s no blood in the water, yet, the sharks were left to snap at each other: Hutchy was in rare (sadly these days, all too rare) form when he really took Caro to task over the whole Mitch Clarke thing, with Caro doing her old “that’s not what I said, what I said was…” circular logic routine - “I said that the AFL said that Geelong said that Mitch Clarke said that it was Brian Lake Purple Monkey Dishwasher”, and then later, added bonus, Lone Wolf calling her out on her “hatred” of James Hird, and then getting grumpy when she joked about him describing Hird as a” genius”.

People comment on the differences between Lyon and Caro & Hutchy (him a fence-sitter, them mudrakers), but if there’s one thing that they all have in common is their magnificent inability to take a joke. There’s nothing these self-serious guys care more about than their own reputation and perceived integrity, which, given who two of them are, is rather incredible when you think about.

Overall, too little about too much, but a lift of sorts from last week. Things gradually heating up. If one of Carlton or Gold Coast are, say, 0-5 in a few weeks, I think we'll be in business.

Also, did they have more time this week? Show seemed to go on forever.

Lulz at Garry Lyon. Small sample sizes can't be used to judge teams, unless it's Essendon in which case two games = James Hird is a genius.

He may be a genius, but you can't crap on about small sample sizes to discount opinions from others and then say they don't count when you're making a point.

She said Hawthorn and Geelong both confirmed that Lake was the player named, but not that he did it.

There is a clear distinction between those 2 things. I think Hutchy knew that, but was just stirring up trouble.

The show seems a lot less toxic since Cornflakes was replaced by The Velvet Sledgehammer.

I think its obvious none of the other panelists liked Grant Thomas, a man more up himself, then most RAW/WWW wrestlers

I was always under the impression it was solely meant to be about the off-field gossipy stuff, the crap that usually gets peddled in the papers, but on tele. Where did people get this idea that the show was ever meant to be about anything else?

Whenever there's discussion of actual on-field play, Hutchie and Caro time and again get made to look foolish, because they really know SFA about that stuff. Would be surprised if they even actually watch the games.

In that promo before the show, Hutchison seems so excited at times that I get the feeling he's about to burst into a Darrell Eastlake style scream.
