To be fair, Curley wasn't so bad. No sense of humour though.

Percy on the other hand ....... oh boy. I worked at the Blush & Stutter the year after he was sacked as coach.
Always pissed and playing cards out the back in the lounge. My favourite memory, apart from regularly having
to chase him for my pay was one time a lot of Carlton big wigs were in the bistro for a typically boozy lunch.
A few hours in and Percy is already pissed asks for another bottle of red. They were drinking Grange which in
1981 was an expensive wine but not crazy expensive like it is now. So I bring out the wine and Percy as was
his want gets me to poor a bit in his glass so he can sniff it and taste it before giving his nod of approval but
this time he said the wine was no good and to bring him another bottle. So I take the bottle back and tell the
guy behind the bar what happened. He pours himself a little and drinks it and says "rubbish, nothing wrong with
it, Jones is pissed again." So he decants the Grange into a carafe and refills the Grange bottle with claret out
of the 20 litre Brown Brothers "house red" cask. I take it out to Percy, who goes through this charade where he tastes
it like he has some idea what he is doing. Then he gives me the thumbs up so I leave the bottle on the table.
The bar manager and I drank the carafe of Grange with our lunch. Only time I've ever had it. It was very nice.
