There's no doubt he has picked up his work rate.
The cats keep singing the tune of 'we all just want to do our own job'

And there's no doubt he's getting it done.

Another 20 possessions on Saturday.
55% of his Possessions were contested.
70% effective disposal (which was higher than Bartel, Corey, SJ, Chapman)
Zero Clangers
4 Tackles
1 centre clearance
3 inside 50's
1 goal
Sadly no Hit Outs, so something is wrong with his game there I admit.

That should keep Eliiza happy :D

I agree he is working harder than previously, but i still don't think he adds anything new to the side. We already have a heap of hard workers in the team (enright, corey for example).

I think someone like a djkerrura (spelling) or gamble could add more in terms of grunt and an x factor as such.

Just my opinion though

l fully agree with those 2 players but there not bombers little pet.but hopefully before to long we'll see gamble and l hope djkerrura

Without doubt he is improving, the big test will be when we come up against sides such as st kilda and hawthorn who will pressure us from start to finish.

His work ethic cannot be questioned, his disposal under pressure is his key issue from my point of view.

But when your bomber's little pet, life is pretty cruisy!

yeah but just wait...if he doesn't perform like that next week all the Byrnes Haters will be back writhing in spite....saying I told you so:rolleyes:
But those numbers are the kind you want week in week out. They are hardly spectacular.

Good to see him use his speed to great use against Sydney. Played okay.

FFS, just give SB his due. Was in the top dozen players against the Swans, played well agin the Dees imo despite what a few others saw, and had serviceable games V Lions and Crows. He's a fringe player improving, and contributing to the team's results so far. Let's all hope he keeps it going.

Mummy's improving, apparently Vegas had a blinder in the magoos, and Travis is also doing well. Nice to have options eh?

Agreed byrnes is playing well. My problem is, i think we know what he is capable in the games that matter. Do we know what vegas or even a hogan is like? I think vegas is made abit of a scapegoat, where as SB gets a few more chances.

Its great to have the depth, no doubt about it, but is he just another "go with the flow" type or player or is he going to make a difference when it counts?

Once again, im new here, so im glad to listen to other opinions

He's been what almost 7 years in the system. That's an awfully long time to still be waiting for someone to improve. Waay to generous for mine, something that is rarely afforded to most players. Bomba's little pet indeed, if an average cat has 9 lives than little Shan Shan has 18!

Don't waste your breath you'll be labeled all sorts of things for questioning the inclusion of this frustrating inconsistent fringe player, crucified even. I don't know what kinda a voo doo little Shagga is using to put a spell on these guys but hey it's working! :D

For mine I thought SB played one of the most confident games I have, perhaps ever, seen him play. The thing that frustrates me about him is his lack of confidence (which I guess is understandable in the current team) and he doesn't seem to go with his first decision. But I think he played with a lot of confidence on Saturday. Maybe the result of 4-5 games in a row? I think there is something to be said for leaving someone in for a while so they feel they have a place in the team.

Haha ive been reading posts on here for the past couple of years and finally decided to sign up, so im fully aware of the hold the little man holds in here.

I just don't want us to lose a hogan or a gamble for the sake of shannon. :D

We have no passengers at Geelong & if you think so then you have minimal knowledge. Shannon has not been able to bring his A game, and now he has put together a relatively solid month and hopefully he keeps it up.

He plays an important role in the side. With him there our forward line is so much faster. His workrate is amazing as well. Just needs to get his confidence up and even then the haters wont be able to say anything about him.

Im not saying he isn't playing well at this stage, the issue is do you really think hes a better player than gamble?

Gamble can come across as lazy and im presuming thats why he is in the 2s at the moment. But a forwardline of Mooney, Hawkins, stevie j, stokes, gamble and chapman certainly seems more potent.

no, that was last year, funnily enough when we played the swans and he snagged 4 and looked an absolute superstar. unfortunately, those performances are few and far between.

his game on the weekend was his norm, a few good things mixed with some mostly frustrating decisions.

I just hope for SB's sake that he doesn't read their stupid comments.

i think eliza has said he does...

My thoughts exactly. And that is what he has always brought to the table. Granted he has been a little more consistent this year, which is proven by his spot in the senior side, but you wouldn't notice if he was dropped for Hogan, Vegas or possibly Djerrkura (though he is untested).

Is this common knowledge/opinion that Shannon is Bomber's little pet?

Negative people will always be pessimistic.

People who like SB should read the positive stuff. I think we would miss him if he was gone. I am no big wrap on the guy, and he is no where near a dud.

Maybe too many think the team should be perfect?

There are not too many guys at the club who have his tenacity and speed. And certainly none that can fill his shoes.

Gamble? Tell him he's dreaming. (and I like Gamble as a prospect, but not as a replacement)
