Seeing as literally everyone in the world is playing this, finally downloaded it last night.

So so bad at it. I'm guessing you need to build like a mutha****er at the end game to be successful?
yes and no. I mean, it helps, but it's not necessary. I got a dub last night and I was only really trying to knock out some challenges, so I didn't really even have many mats and did sfa building.

Advanced building is nice but really, it's just basic building knowledge that is essential. Certainly you should try and get the muscle memory down to build a 1x1 at the very least (4 walls, a ramp, a further 4 walls on top of the first ones, another ramp, and so on); and you should try to learn to ramp rush (more properly, give yourself cover when advancing), by building 1, or preferably two joined ramps, and ideally covering the front of them with a wall to make them harder to shoot down. Edit: I also strongly advise you watch some online tutes about editing, and practice that too.

Nowadays it's great that there's what's called Playground mode. Jump in there, you harvest materials super quick, and you can practice all these techniques. It's a really great opportunity to practice. I spent 20 minutes the other day practicing the double ramp with wall, and double ramp with wall and floor technique - because I realised I wasn't really using it and I should be at certain times. I want the muscle memory.

What you really want to do is shift your mindset a little bit. In that, in normal shooters when you come under fire your first instincts are to either a) shoot back; or b) seek cover and run away. In Fortnite, your absolute best response is to instantly throw up walls/ramps to give yourself cover, which is where the above-mentioned 1x1 muscle memory comes in super handy. Once you've built yourself some cover you can start to assess the situation and how to best respond.

Other than that, positioning is super important (as with all shooters), but almost more so here because you can so easily gain (and lose) the high ground, which goes without saying is a massive advantage.

Also, you need to not be lazy, and always be harvesting mats, and never do anything out in the open (ie taking meds, reviving, etc) because you can and should always have either some walls around you or at the very least be underneath a pyramid piece.

Dunno what you're playing it on, but regardless, be sure to be using Builder Pro if it's console, and have turbo building on.

If you're looking for a good streamer to learn from (PC, but it's universal knowledge really) I highly recommend SypherPK. Does some outstanding Educational Commentaries which give a huge amount of insight

Wow good advice cheers

:drunk: I haven't even tried any yet.

Just reading them annoyed me.

3 kills in one game i know i will struggle with
Golf one sounds ridiculous
The grenade one will be a pain in the ass for me too

Haha, first game last night I landed right on a Blue Tac at Shifty, 3 kills and Shifty kills all done :D

Golf one isn't as bad as it sounds. The tees are far enough away from the clubhouse where all the weapons are that you should be able to get in at least 2 before someone comes at you with a gun. Lance Uppercut managed to get all 5 in one game I think.

Yeah the three kills in one game for people who aren’t quite Ninja is pretty tough but sometimes you get them without thinking.

I dropped in a game last night to get Battle Star on the dinosaur, rifted a couple of times to get that challenge then saw Westworld was unlooted. Ended up with a Gold Scar, Gold Grenade Launcher, Gold Bolt Action and Blue Tommy. Got a couple of easy kills from people pushing me with crap guns then got the Victory from grenading the crap out of a guy who was pushing me going away from the zone.

Dropped shifty first picked up a blue tac and managed to take out 5 people that were running around looking for guns. You just gotta get to the ground first.

Also just a hint the giant metal llama just outside Junk Junction has two chest spawns in it that count towards the challenge that hardly anyone goes to.

Challenges have been easy all season and are getting a bit stale if you ask me.

Heres hoping BFV's Battle Royale proves worthy competition, im at the point where im ready to move on to something different.

Fyi you dont have to hit each shot in the golf challenge at the start of each course like it specifies, (score 5 holes hitting at the tee) i did 4 of mine by striking at a lethal range of 1 metre :p

Anyone watch the official EPIC SS tournaments that unfortunately start early morning in aus? got up for the NA one today, is exciting watching the best players compete to "outsweat" each other with money on the line. Although i imagine many people are not interested in esports.

It’s so good. I just watch some highlights of matches

Fortnite the most enjoyable game for viewing purposes atm (been the top game on twitch for months), although it still has the rng affect which doesn't affect the more traditional shooter/ team based games. I think it would be boring IMO if a royale themed game got turned into another cod clone 4v4 same loadout fair map in the sake of fairness in compn play/ viewing entertainment.

What about the timed trial challenges??

I've done 4 of 5 required, but for whatever reason the one north of pleasant park doesn't come up when i go there, and i'm certain i've done the others excluding Tomato Town & Snobby as they are too hard (need golf cart or bounce pad).
