What i think could happen for Paddy Dow:

Collingwood trade 19 + Future 3rd to Freo for Schultz.

St Kilda trade Gresham end of 1st Rd compo to Freo for Henry + the Collingwood future 3rd.

SOS trades the Collingwood future 3rd Rd'er to us for Dow.

Points wise our two picks are worth more than Pick 8, but that's not really the reality. If we were to throw in our F1, I'd want more than just Pick 8.

How about 21, 25, F1 for 8, F2, F3?

Assessing the points differential of an exchange of picks is only relevant when you’re trading to a party that needs extra points (father son/ academy selections)

I think if you’re trading down the draft, multiple second rounders for a top-10 pick is more than a fair request.

Regardless of the points differential, you are trading down from the top-10 selections and the way to compensate that is multiple second round picks.

I’d be over the moon if we turned two second round picks in to a top-8 pick. Geelong get the short end of the stick somewhat, however they currently have nothing after pick 8 so I would be taking the deal if I was them (unless there’s a better deal on the table).

Kangaroo's have 2, 3, 15, 17 and 18. Bloody Hell

If they go to the draft with this added to the young talent they have it's a whole of club changer.

I hope they dont crap the bed and overpay for Reid, i can just see them doing a stupid deal for Reid and then the kid taken at 3 or 5 being the best player in the draft.

Someone on the north board compared Fisher to Gary Wilson. For those of you who may not know who he was a Fitzroy superstar.I nearly fell off my chair.

Nothing alike, Wilson was a gun mid, tough as rusty nails, kicked over 400 goals

Maybe cos Fish will be at the next team to go out of existence?............................only comparison that makes any sense to me

I have seen a few time here that the Cats are interested in future picks. Is anyone able to explain why they are wanting to trade out Pick 8 this year for picks next year?

Some decent players as OOC next year, Mackie would already be in their ear

Apparently Ben King is at the top of their shopping list

You'd think they'd give up 2 and 17 for pick 1

That's an acceptable outcome for Reid.

Looking at Forty3's rumour...

21 and 25 to Gold Coast for their F1 and Hollands. Gives GC these picks: 21, 23, 25, 26, 27, 31, 35, 37, 61, 65, 70 and 73. With Hollands gone, they'd have 6 slots open on their list so could only take the first 6 of those picks to the draft. While they could cut another player or two, they probably don't need to. The full list is 5765 points, but just those first six would still be 4909, which should be enough for their four academy picks (e.g. picks 2, 6, 12 and 30 is 4861 points after discount). Which makes pick 37 and beyond superfluous - though they'd still have 2 free slots on the list to fill. Perhaps we could be cheeky enough to ask for 37 as part of the deal, and give them a future 3rd - which we would hopefully get for Dow.

Then trade the two future 1sts (ours and Gold Coasts) to Geelong for their pick 8, perhaps with their future 3rd and 4th coming back to us.

Gives us 8 and 37 for two draft picks this year, and extra picks next year, which would help pay for the twins.

Would then upgrade two rookies to fill the remaining spots on the senior list, leaving one rookie spot open - perhaps for the rookie draft, or for SSP.

But I'm also intrigued by Soapy's suggestion that we could keep 25... perhaps rather than include 25, we package Geelong's future 3rd into the Gold Coast trade? Would make it a 3-way trade, as we have to stick by the future trade rules.

So:
Gold Coast:
Receive: 21 and a future 3rd (Geelong). Gives them about 4650 points, which would be very close to what they need. Close enough that they can do a minor trade on draft night if it looks like a shortfall.
Give Hollands and a future 1st. Likely suits them with more academy kids coming through next year.

Geelong:
Receive: two future 1st round picks (Car & Suns). Just what they're looking for.
Give: pick 8, a future 3rd and a future 4th.

Carlton:
Receive: Hollands, Pick 8, future 4th (Gee)
Give: 21, future 1st.

Doesn't seem too unreasonable does it? Perhaps add in a future 3rd from the Dow trade - prob to the Suns.

Would leave us with picks 8 and 25, which would be a fantastic result for us. Not sure it can fly, but happy if it does.

Cats rejecting pick 24 for Esava... Mackie is seriously close to surpassing the great Dodo for being the biggest campaigner out there

That is more than fair..and probably overs. What an idiot!
