Due to no junior footy in Victoria for 2020, I think there will be an above normal amount of “steals” in this draft. The same as there may be more fails.

A lot can change in 12 months (fitness, height, weight & mentally). Vic Draftee’s were being drafted on 2019 form.
Yep agreed.
Made it a bit of a lottery.
The fact he slipped all the way through to the rookie draft says something about 2020.
Blokes who are from country towns probably more likely to slip through the cracks of club recruiters.

Still, a nice get from a WA based club. Evidence of a decent recruiting team, and adds to the drafting of Frederick as a late, unheralded player selection. Quite a different scenario to Luke Ryan who while taken late had a significant predraft profile. Getting value from late picks is gold.

Cripps would be one.
Dont get me wrong, He would improve freos Midfield to a degree. Inside mid stocks of Cripps, Fyfe, Cerra, Brayshaw, Acres, Conca would be very nice and that would be a good bunch of inside mids for the next 3-5 years.

The problem is trying to fit Cripps under the Salary cap if he wants to join freo at 1 million a year for the next 4-5 years.

If Cerra does want to leave, I can see freo chasing cripps.

Given the choice, I rather keep Cerra and not get cripps.

I want Freos list to be Like Geelongs and to a lesser degree the Bulldogs. If the Salary cap is only 12 million, I want to play finals with a bunch of good players under the cap on $500-$600,000 a year.

Treacy will be seen as the absolute steal of the 2020 draft.

In the limited viewing:
  1. Has good pace...chase and separation very good.
  2. Is strong, and uses his big body well
  3. Great hands
  4. Lovely kick. 2 kicks, 2 goals from 45 and 48, both dead straight and over the fence.
  5. Next Carey? Seems so...
:p

Give him a break man, he is only eighteen. He needs time to develop his craft.

I havent seen him. He could be anything.

Pavlich is our greatest goal scorer in Freos history but started slowly in 2000. Got AA as a defender in 2002 then slowly started kicking goals in the midfield then gradually played as a KPF.

Cam McCarthy showed he had some talent but didnt have the motivation to be a consistent performer.

Michael Apeness and Tanner smith had a small chance up forward and looked good in some patches in 2016 but both were shot with injury.

Jesse Hogan came in as a proven Goal scorer and freo traded heavily for him. Then off field problems stuffed his freo stint.

Matt Taberner.... well theres a 100 page thread on the freo board. some dockers didnt think he was going to make it. Some though he could make it. He is still on freos list. 104 goals from 87 games. If he didnt have injury ridded seasons from 2017-19, Probably would of kicked 30 goals in each of those 2017-19 seasons.

SEN Article - Freo Youngsters Set To Leave?

Today's SEN article has quotes from Peter Sumich stating that Adam Cerra is "bound to go home" at the end of the year as well as Sean Darcy and Darcy Tucker exploring ways to get to Geelong.

While you need to take everything Suma says with a grain of salt, he does highlight some issues facing the Dockers this year especially more so considering they have started the year in really poor form.

“I reckon Adam Cerra is going to go home,” Sumich said on SportFM.

“He hasn’t signed yet, he’s a Victorian, he’s looking at Fremantle going, ‘Are they the team that’s going to play finals or win a premiership?’ Right now, he’s probably going, ‘Not really’.

“(Nat) Fyfe is going to retire in two or three years time, (David) Mundy at the end of the year, where does that leave it?

“They haven’t really got bookends you’d say are going to win them a premiership.

“He’s bound to go home.”

Sumich also believes that Dockers ruckman Sean Darcy is keen to join Geelong which could open the door for the Western Australian club to pursue Western Bulldogs talent Tim English.

“I’m hearing big time he (Darcy) wants to go back to Geelong,” he added.

“If that’s the case, they should put all their eggs in one basket there and try to get Tim English. I don’t know if Tim will want to come because at the end of the day he’s at a club that’s going really well.”

Darcy Tucker is another who is a chance to leave Freo and like Darcy is open to joining the Cats, according to Sumich.

“I’m hearing Darcy Tucker wants to go to Geelong and Darcy the ruckman, Geelong are chasing him. All these Victorians are going to want to go home and we’ve got WA products that keep going out of our state,” Sumich said.

Cerra hails from Melbourne, Tucker is originally from Horsham while Darcy is a product of the Geelong Falcons football factory.

Cerra and Tucker are out of contract this year while Darcy remains under contract until the end of 2022.

It would be an absolute disaster if they lose any of the mentioned players considering the investment they have put in so far.

What are the chances?

he really doesn't put anything convincing up as to why any of them would leave.

They could cover Darcy easily enough
Cerra would be a disaster. I can't say i notice Tucker much when they play, but i'm mainly watching my little throng of keeper league gems (Cerra, Brayshaw, Serong & Darcy).

He has literally just shared his opinion which is based on absolutely nothing, particularly an understanding of our list.
That there in a nut-shell explains why he wasn't seriously considered for our coaching position 18 months ago.

Tucker missed half of last year and has been injured so far this year.

Also, he has a habit of only turning up for half a game each week. Is A grade for 2 quarters and then disappears for the other 2.
