Data from footywire. To check the draft order see the thread here.

Footywire says: "While we make every effort to keep up to date with player contracts, it is likely that our data may at times be out of date, incomplete or inaccurate. If you find any player contracts that need updating, please let us know using our brand new contract submission form."

Kelly is clearly best 22 and a fully fit Darling is as well, but Darling is a campaigner (Freo is pro vacc).

I'd swap Brodie + something for Kelly but he didn't want to play for us back in 2019 or whatever (thank god) so doubt it has changed. That dude is going to rot at West Coast during his prime.

We'd take Allen but I think you can guess how the Eagles would see that suggestion.

The rest are always injured and Freo fans have seen enough TBA and TBC on our injury lists to last a lifetime.

Kelly really the only one that makes any kind of sense depending on how much he’s on. There’s a lot of benefit in putting games into Ras and Johnson while they are cheaper and there’s an opportunity cost of the money needed for Kelly.

I’d be somewhat interested in that Brodie plus something for him as a bit of a win/win trade for both sides but the chances of it are like zero as you said

So what would Fremantle do next year if Alex Pearce went back to being injurey prone again, who would replace him?

Would Luke Ryan just be playing KPD2?

Is Hamling staying on for another year and the replacement in 12 months time?

Chapman - Ryan - Walker (Hughes)
J.Clark - B.Cox - H.Young

Probably something similar to 2020. Ryan, Cox, Hughes, Chapman would rotate between the bigs.

Not at all

Our defense was 5th in 2020 and now we've added chappy, young, walker and Clark to it

Defense is the least of our worries
You came 12th

Being in low scoring games doesnt necessarily equate to your KPDs being great without Pearce or backline being too 5 in the comp

Otherwise any defender at the saints would be considered a star

And yet our defense held up

Plugging the role of one player isn't an issue imo and we clearly have developing KPDs on the list

Hamling will drop off this year and we will likely draft another KPD, they can develop while an assortment of Moose, Cox, Ryan and Chappy cover the talls

It isn't an issue

Well then go find the stats for oppo scores per inside 50 if you care that much

If it held up, you wouldnt have finished 12th

Id be very surprised if Freo dont recruit a mature KPD of some sort end of

Draper has been very close to playing AFL this season. We even took him to Adelaide as the only traveling emergency when one or two of our defenders were under genuine injury clouds. Hamling was 100% fit at the time.

Hamling isn’t even close to team and will never be again unless Pearce and Cox are injured at the same time.

He’s not half the player he was three years ago. It’s sad but it is what it is.

🤣

And dogs back 6 way better than freos
This year they appear to be, the whole team has only really performed the last 5 weeks. Wasnt this whole thing about getting McGovern? MAYBE we could use a mature player as emergency depth next year but McGovern isnt joining us to sit in the WAFL side.

No, it was about acquiring a mature aged KPD as stocks are light imo

Many disagree it seems

Mcgovern wouldnt be the worst player to have imo. You know my thoughts on that though. At the right price. He wont leave WA imo so there is an opportunity to get him for a moneyball term 'value and unders' 4-500k over 2-3 years imo

Logue played 9 games down back with Pearce and Cox last year during the home and away

Ok, well I think that might be reasonable but they've have to be free like a Corbett. I'm not as down on Hamling as others, if we wanted mature depth, I'd just keep him
