It was colts where he was bigger than the other kids though. At 202cm he won't be able to stand and palm in the AFL.
Why is everyone talking like he is undersized as a ruck? He's 202cm tall which is smack bang in the middle of the majority of the rucks in the AFL.

Nic Nat 201cm
Jacobs 203cm
Mumford 199cm
Clarke 203cm
Nicholls 201cm
Grundy 202cm
Longer 201cm
Goldstein 201cm
Kruezer 200cm

Gawn/Sandilands/Mason Cox/Witts are the only rucks that have a height advantage over him.

I was going to say this. And who says he doesnt jump. If Nic Nat jumps over him he csn always barrel him with his knees

Some have very good leaping ability though. And, I didn't say he was undersized just making the point that he'll have much bigger, stronger and talented opponents in the AFL so probably shouldn't get too carried away by his very impressive palming ability in colts.

At what point does he do that? Before the leaping ruckman has left the ground or once he's landed? 'Cause if he's leaping over him all his knees would be getting would be ankles. The other two scenarios will result in free against and therefore scrapped as a bad idea.

It's a point to consider. However from the highlights video he clearly is able to jump quite well even at 113kg. Also it seems he tested quite well for running jump at the TAC combine at the start of the year. I'd be interested to see his ND result in context, can't find them though.

One of his knocks was endurance. How can you be a top level swimmer and not have a reasonable endurance base? I'm guessing once he sheds some weight he'll have good endurance.

His brother (who has Down Syndrome) holds (held) a world record in swimming apparently. Talented family = good stocks! The more I read about him the more comfortable I am about this selection. The friendly giant that protects his midfielders - I like.

As someone who has been labelled an oversized lump many times in my athletic career - I already love this guy!

Right up there with my favorite basketballer Nate Jawai.

Welcome to the Purple Haze Sean. I can't wait to see you in action soon!

Same can be said about any player in any positions. Petrecca was another man child. But what they show in colts is expected/hoped to eventually come through at AFL - given time.

Exactly the point I was making earlier. The big question mark I have on him is will he be a dominant AFL ruckman to make up for his lack of mobility around the ground. We don't want a player like Lobbe for Port that can't jump or win a tap and offers nothing else. Time will tell and I'm already looking forward to getting quoted in 3 years time and being told how wrong I was.

If you read his attributes on AFL central vertical leap is one of his strengths so the knock that he can't jump is just wrong.

Sean is ranked top 20 out of all the TAC players in the vertical leap. A giant ruck who can jump. I like it.:D
I am a bit shocked by that. Seriously surprised. That is really good news.

I don't have high expectations for him and will be pleased if he becomes a good but aggressive ruck at the next level. If he gets beyond that, terrific.

You are thinking too much about this. Was a clear dig at Nic nAt.

By way of comparison the athletic machine Griffin Logue recorded 71cm for the vertical jump. I have a feeling the club think that under mum's cooking lies an athlete.

The big fella is no Nic Nat leapwise but he does have a footy brain - something Nic Nat will never have. His strength will be at ball ups and boundary thow ins. When it comes to wrestling for position and getting his arm free I expect him to become a beast very quickly. He has a fairly decent penetrating left foot and loves a contest.

Maybe I'm thinking about this too much but when I look at our draft selections I see 3 big strongly built guys. I hoping to see a return to Docker footy circa 2013 where we physically intimidate teams and then score quickly on the turnover.
