A local boy! Welcome mate.
Pick 61 - Shane Yarran
Club: Subiaco
Position: General forward
Date of birth: 2 June 1989
Height: 186cm
Weight: 79kg
From the Freo recruiters
This was Shane’s second year at Subiaco, which culminated in him playing in his second WAFL premiership. He also won the Bernie Naylor Medal for most goals in the WAFL with 54. Shane played one season in the Peel Football League in 2013 before joining Subiaco for the past two seasons. He is currently working as a trade assistant for his assistant coaches plumbing business. When Shane was younger he was a part of a group who committed a number of different crimes but has shown a great deal of remorse for his actions. He has a supportive partner and a newborn child and is doing his best to move on with his life. Shane’s size, speed, agility and ability overhead make him an incredibly hard match up for opposition defenders. His marking improved significantly this year and he became a really serious threat in the air. Shane kicked 4.2 in a single quarter against Peel in the WAFL. He reads the game well and with his speed and smarts is a dangerous lead up target but can also attack out the back.

Subiaco’s Shane Yarran is a notable inclusion among 23 WAFL players invited to this year’s State draft combine.
The 26-year-old was on the list released yesterday for the October 17 combine at HBF Arena.
Yarran has emerged as the WAFL’s most consistent forward in just his second season at Subiaco, booting 42 majors this year to comfortably lead the race for the Bernie Naylor Medal.
The invitation came just days after he was dropped from Subiaco’s league team for missing training. Yarran hopes to follow the precedent set by Sandover medallist Andrew Krakouer, who was drafted from the WAFL by Collingwood in 2010 at 27.
Subiaco football manager Luke Sanders said Yarran had excelled for a sustained period.
“The biggest question mark for Shane was his consistency in performances both in games and week to week,” Sanders said.
“He’s worked really hard to make sure he’s consistent and playing our structures. He’s been able to do that and I think he’s leading the goal kicking because of it.”
Yarran tested well in his first appearance at a State combine last year, recording a 2.82sec. time in the 20m sprint — the equal-fifth quickest in draft testing history.
