Agree with much of this but no re Jackson. His marking has been pretty impressive to date and today he had the Port ruckman embracing him all game (not in a loving ) and another blocking/tagging. Made me wish for big Darcy.Pretty happy with that game. Weren't a million miles off and more composure wins us that game. Port weren't on top form, but make no mistake, they're a slick, hard at ot outifit.
Liked what Emmett brought, and some really good signs for next year.
But for the love of god, lets work on:
Skills
Skills under pressure
Marking (Treacy/Jackson I'm looking at you)
Another pre-season, we'll be a harder outfit, more tackles will stick and we'll be more composed. Gotta win next week to round off the year.

Don't know him and jom can be in same team , but generally jom is decent ball user, and also feeding it out to young.him getting it out to an elite ball user would help, also
So you were impressed with their mids serious speed and you want us to fix up our half back line not our midfieldI was very impressed with how fast Jason Horne Francis was, genuinely surprised me. All of their starting mids at the bounce had serious speed pushing Wines to the wing. They wanted to maximise the returns on the clearance before settling into a wrestle if that first try didn't work.
We need some more class on half back, we need our talls taking more marks forward of the ball across the entire field and that will come with time.
Question for me is can we field a plan to incorporate Taberner in that working hard for a mark up the ground role without putting him in the ruck.
Emmett showed some real endeavor.
He’s just more of the same: not fast, needs to work on something that he’s meant to have spent all year on, despite his injuries. We can’t wait for Johnson or Erasmus to develop either. We need another Mickey B to land in our laps.
If Johnson and Erasmus don’t show signs next year of coming on we’re seriously screwed. So you were impressed with their mids serious speed and you want us to fix up our half back line not our midfield
I’m one of the few it seems who liked him as a forward in the Lyon era - good overhead and a respectable kick on goal, plus a big body. Would’ve liked to see more of Cox forward plus Ryan on wing - while of course this begs question re who or what remains in our defence.Brennan Cox AA forward
You think Mickey b was fast? It isn't quick, dynamic, smart or skilful enough. And Serong is very unaccountable. Probably tired after a long season but you can't have one go at it in the middle. Did someone tell him he is Nat Fyfe or something.

feels like GroundHog Day after 20 plus years! It seems to be an excuse when we lose its because we are one of the youngest teams in the comp. Look out in a few years time with the young talent we have though.
But it feels like grounhog day after the past 4 years hearing similar things.
How did we get to that stage and allow it happen. The rebuild should have been close to complete now similar to Port Adelaide list and age profile.
Instead it seems we are still in the thick of a rebuild with our age profile being one of the youngest in the comp.
At least Ryan on the wing be like picking up where acres left off. Bombing it high and far into fwd line as possible. That wasted bomb into the fwd line was frustrating.I’m one of the few it seems who liked him as a forward in the Lyon era - good overhead and a respectable kick on goal, plus a big body. Dude ran like a duck. Maybe that's why he played well in the slop. You think Mickey b was fast? Pretty sure he was the slowest in the team
Nah even before leg break Mickey was like a loping wombat when he waddled..he was just good at finding the footynot before he broke his leg
He wasn’t slow before he broke his leg, but yeah sorry, I meant a complete player that complements our needs that comes out of nowhereYou think Mickey b was fast? Pretty sure he was the slowest in the team
What would you see as an acceptable WL record for the opening 10 games next season?Serong will be AA and is one of the most accountable players in the league. He's ****ed from carrying the side most of the year. Our 2025 mid shapes to be:
Young - contested beast, reasonably quick and good skills (albeit a bit off this year)
Johnson - contested beast, breaking tackles for fun at 20. Good user of the ball and decision making. Expect to score a few to as he develops. Obviously out of gas at this stage of the year.
Serong - quick hands, good contested footy, great clearance player when protected (this is where we missed Mundy this year). Can hit the score board.
Brayshaw - one of the best two-way mids in the comp. Again missed Mundy's smarts in clearances this year. Can hit the score board and decent decision maker.
Darcy - monster, physical ruck. Good grab, decent shot on goal. Would've been handy today.
Jackson - can play anywhere, great wingspan to disrupt clearances, big unit, contested animal. Needs to improve mark, but good user of the footy.
Ras - non-stop pressure. Currently too unclean with the ball to know if he'll be a star or useful depth.
JOM - big body, above average player and user of the ball. Composed.
Unknown
Fyfe? - smart player, big enough to make life easier for the above players. Needs to learn to play within his new limits.
Plus some genuine points of difference to roll through and allow tactical changes in Aish, Switta and even NOD potentially.
Edit: forgot to add the extremely small number of games these guys have played together as a unit. Give tine for synergy to build and they'll all look better again.
I don't know about you, but that's a pretty formidable mid unit.

That's too young. Makes sense we looked like a rebuilding side tbh. Many of those guys just aren't ready to beat top 4 teams, especially when we have to test the depth.
Pretty sure he ran sub three seconds in the 20 metres. Can’t find it now but found this:Nah even before leg break Mickey was like a loping wombat when he waddled..he was just good at finding the footy
Pretty sure he ran sub three seconds in the 20 metres. Can’t find it now but found this:
‘The pace question is interesting. Barlow did the 2008 pre-season at St Kilda, and was beaten only by Robert Eddy in three-kilometre time trials. Endurance is his pet subject, yet at the state screening trials that year, the "wounded duck" ranked in the top 5 per cent over 20 metres.’
