News Freo's New Look

I reckon the jumper would look even better without the "new" ISC logo, the old ISC logo is better, and what's worse is that ISC logo will also be on the Saints, Cats & Swans jumper!

Really? I thought the new ISC logo looked far better.
The old one looked really tacky with it's "claw marks" and the outside oval.

Freo should of incorprated the Vees into the logo if they are using them on the jumper, it's just an odd move with the logo, the "Fremantle FC" logo is way better!

They actually have kind of incorporated the Vees into the logo. If you haven't noticed, the bottom of the anchor on the logo is shaped like a V on the same angle as the jumper design.

They had something special, unique and iconic in the anchor on their jumper. It was well liked on this board as the AJL showed. The home and away jumpers were equally well liked. Now theyve gone to the generic vees.

Im not saying that I dont like it but the AFL has gone from no vee based jumpers in 2009, to three vee based jumpers (not including Sydney because they didnt wear it in the H&A) in 2010 to at least four if not five in 2011.

I think it's a winner! :thumbsu:

It's sad to see the anchor go but the purple and white looks ace. I really like the simple logo aswell...it sort of has an American college football team feel about it.

Well done Freo.

Awful logo, the jumper is ok but it's not Fremantle. This is almost as bad as Brisbane's re-branding last year.

As long as you use the word almost;)

This is a great, very intelligent update. Much better than I expected.

Consolidating the colors is a good move. Freo is purple... the green and red were just along for the ride (not that they even really went with purple anyway).

The new logo is simple, sharp and clear. A great monogram, something that given time could become as iconic as Carlton's slim 'CFC' or St Kilda's historic shield.

Glad they seem to have overcome the legal sanctions stopping them from using the word 'Dockers' on their merchandise. The font they've chosen is spot on - strong and blue collar.

I'm for keeping tradition, but plenty of VFL clubs changed their uniform in the early days of their existence. Were Melbourne disowning their heritage and killing their brand when they ditched the 'fuschias' mascot?

All in all, :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

I don't mind the jumper, but the logo is...weird.

The anchor with the 'D' intertwined just looks dicky to me. I dunno...I guess it'll just take some getting used to

I like the jumper, it's simple, classy and strong. Their old jumper was hideous.

What I don't understand is why they want to be known as the Fremantle Dockers and not the Fremantle Football Club. That decision seems strange to me.

Heading off to the Doig tonight. The new look will be in full view in the Burswood Ball Room I guess. Might have to take a pair of sunnies just in case the purple and white end up being like a 70's disco.

I like th D intwined in the anchor. I can see it being a little like the Carlton jumpers.
Perhaps that will be our 'purple haze' jumper.
All purple with the anchor/d in the centre ala the the Blues....

Personally I think it's an insult to the person who designed the CFC monogram to compare it with the D-Anchor logo. One of the laziest logo's I've seen in a while.

I love it.

At first, I was like "WTF?" (like everyone will be at first), because I was so used to the other one. But as I kept looking over it, it all works tbh.

The purple is synonymous with Fremantle. It's jumper works because it is simple. It's not trying to be something it isn't. But it also works because you know that there has been tradition tied with it, in terms of East Fremantle and the like.

It's a lot better than the previous jumper, mainly because it doesn't have an anchor hanging off the neck. I don't care what people say about it, it's a bad sign. An anchor is reeled in when it's time for use, only to be dropped and to keep on falling from there on in. Seems very Freo to me, at least in the last 15 years. Not to mention it looked too cartoony, where-as the new jumper looks bold. It was time for a change.

The logo? It's kept the anchor, but as others have mentioned, the arrowhead matches the 3 V's on the jumper. Some say it should have just been "FFC", interlocked. But that would have been too common, tbh. I think entwining the D with the anchor is a better move, as it's different. But it puts a meaning to the anchor as well.

If you look at it after a while, it grows on you. You realize that it looks a lot better than the last one, which was too difficult to take seriously. The new one is neat, tidy and easy to put anywhere.

As for the DOCKERS name, it makes sense to make it official, and re-brand everything to match your history, when you've been calling yourselves the dockers since ever, and have had a song that predominantly refers to it as well. 'Dockers' stems way back before '95.

It's time for a change, it's time to be taken seriously as a football club, and it's time to go back to old ties, as the old Fremantle club's weren't as unsuccessful as Freo have been in the AFL the past 15 years. And this is the best way to do it. It's time to create new history. Some of the supporters on here should really look at their own jumper, or logo. Especially West Coast fans, no tradition at all.

Well done Freo! You finally have a chance of being feared.

I bet you don't step on the cracks on the footpath and believe in 'touch wood'.
